Be easy on those Pirelli ATRs

I have 11,000 on my stock Pirelli's. I still have a lot of tread left. I will probably get around 15,000 plus before they need replaced. This is in South Western PA where they tar and chip every road.

Junk tires or not, unless you are driving like NASCAR or on very bad roads you should get more milage then you got. Those wore out way before 9,900 miles. If your alignment is OK something else is wrong. Kill them with kindness at dealer and they should work with you if they are reputable.

A friend of mine has a Subaru and his stock tires wore out at 20,000 miles. He went to the dealer and sweet talked them and they gave him 4 new tires under warranty. I don't know what exactly he told them (He is a kind person and overly nice), but without black mail I don't know how he did it.

I was bummed seeing those picks... I've got those tires. I've been buying Pirellis for the past 8 years and love them (P4s and cinturato 7s) especially with the high milage.

Tried looking up the mileage rating for the Pirelli scorpions a/t, but not readily finding them. Closest I came was "ATA" at 50,000 mileage rating, but not sure if it's the same tire.

Are you sure about the reason you were given as excessive wear on the outer edge of a tire is because of one of these reasons:

Reasons Tires Wear on Outside Edge

Poorly Inflated Tires
Bad Wheel Alignment
Defective Ball Joints
Malfunctioning Suspension

On a brand new vehicle I suspect underinflated tires as the likely suspect.

I agree. This is not normal. I think under inflated. This is not wear this is where the tire split open and pulled apart.
This tire didn't wear out it failed. Why did it fail?

I agree, these are ok and lasting. However when they are done I am getting Wild Peak A/T trails.

My wife had the same look on her VW Tiguan's front two tires on the inside after about 9k...turns out her toe-in alignment from the factory was hot garbage in that case. Hopefully you get it squared away so you're not working to pay for tires lol

Sometimes they brand them the same but they are a different model number. So they might be pirelli atr's with a cheaper rubber.

Somebody previously mentioned continentals wearing out and I've had great luck with them buying aftermarket. They have been great tires for me. That's the kind of thing that makes me think the OEM tires aren't the same as what you can get at a tire shop.

Definitely shenanigans going on.

Pirelli tires have always been soft compound tires. The are great on cornering but they wear out faster than any other tire I have ever owned. I had a set on my Torino and they went away in under 20,000 miles, and like you I lived and worked in a canyon near Salt Lake so cornering is what I needed. This is the reason I also like Continentals. They last better than Pirelli and corner better than Michelin. BFG makes a great off-road tire but they are not so wonderful at high speed. With under 10k on those tires you have a claim for mileage but to be honest, that is like having a ticket to last years lottery.
