I have been calling around trying to find one for months while waiting for my xl to be built (still not in production). Yesterday someone who I had called in early Feb of this year said they got a Cactus Gray Lariat Lux package with 4k tow and a moonroof in stock at MSRP! SOLD!!

This was quite the journey, but I couldn't be happier.
I didn't want a high trim Maverick, but at this point I'm just happy to have one with 4k tow (which was a must for me). I'm planning on trading it for my XL whenever it gets finally built...who knows how long that might be.

The main thing that attracts me to the Maverick is its size, mpg, 4k tow package, awd, and bed for the price. The higher trim doesn't add a ton for me and I would trade a lower price not to have those additional options.
Why would you trade in a loaded one for a barebones one?

Right, I get why you’d have ordered an XL over a Lariat but if you already have the Lariat seems like more trouble than it’s worth to trade down
It’s not like a fully loaded Maverick is an expensive vehicle to begin with

Just interesting as most take a lower level while waiting for a higher level (like me) hadn’t heard of the opposite

Why not just sell the XL when it comes in for the difference that the Lariat cost you and then you got a Lariat for the same price? Unless you don't like the seats or interior, otherwise seems like the best way to go. I have two Lariats ordered and I'm going to sell whichever one comes in first and keep the second which will most likely be a 2023 model. If I find one on the lot, I'll buy it and sell both of the ones coming in and make up the difference.

Or if you think like me you can sell the Lariat potentially for a profit and own a cheap truck for even cheaper......almost 2 months with my XL and although I don't drive a lot there's not a thing I think this truck needs more than it has or that I've added for minimal cost. I would have zero interest in owning a Lariat model.

Just based on what I've seen them sell for, the XLs seems to have more of a profit margin than the Lariats. I see XLs going for $15-$20k over, basically double, while Lariats have gone for about $10k over. Would be a wash.

Congratulations!! You'll be very happy with the Lariat/lux package. Looks like you got a silver lining out of that waiting-to-be-built dark cloud. Safe and happy motoring.

Expensive is relative. A fully loaded AWD Lariat is roughly $36000. That is a lot of money for a lot of people, me included. It doesn't really matter that it is on the lower end of the spectrum for new car prices, it is still a lot more expensive than an AWD XL.

Maybe OP wants a cheap car as a cheap as possible ala the XL trim and they don't want a cheap truck in a tuxedo ala Lariat trim.:ROFLMAO:
