After deciding that the Ford Perimeter Plus upgrade module (KN1Z-19A361-A) was
a pretty decent security system update for my '22 Mav, I went shopping for a decent
price on this part. Googling this eventually landed me on Fairway Ford's site in Canton,
Ohio. Price was $169.95 shipped and they let me use my ford points for the transaction.
I received it 3 days later via USPS. Ford dealership parts depts around San Jose where I
live are charging between the $215 list and inflated $248 price for this. It interested -
call the parts department at Fairway Ford and talk to Justin mentioning the internet site price
at this URL
BTW - Install in the Maverick took less than 30 mins including adjustment. Simple as:
1. Removing the plug at the back of the OBD2 socket (just below and to the left of steering
column) by pressing the lock tab on plug and carefully pulling the plug out of the back of the
EBD2 socket.
2. Once unplugged - the removed plug is inserted in the matching female plug of same type on
the harness.
3. The harness also includes a male plug identical to the one removed from the EBD2 socket in
step 1. This male plug is plugged into back into the EBD2 socket (think of the harness basically
tapping inline to the EBD2 wiring to connect the Perimeter Plus module)
4. The remaining, smaller plug on the harness connects to the larger socket on the Perimter
Plus module. On this module - there is also a small 2 pin socket for an LED indicator (optional with
LED purchased separately) and a 3 pin jumper that I understand the included black jumper plug
should be installed if your truck does not already have remote start enabled..
The mounting of the module should be in a location where the module is tie-wrapped to a firm
surface on the truck (to sense movements) and in a location where you can adjust the small thumb
screw on the module to adjust sensitivity after mounting.
There is wiring raceway directly below the steering column that travels left to right - it looks like a bar
directly behind the dash plastic at the bottom. I set my module flat on top of this bar with the adjustment
screw facing the engine compartment. before placement - I wove 2 tie wraps through the mounting ears
and pushed the pointy end of the wraps back between the bar and dash plastic - then wrapped it back around
the bar and to the other end of the tie wrap to secure. Finally - Tie wrap up the harness so its safely out of the
way.
You do not need Forscan to activate this upgrade - just a funny series of turning ignition on and off and opening
doors. follow steps 24 - 44 to learn the new module and adjust it in this Ford doc that I found on the Bronco Sport
forum.
It sounds complicated (sorry) - but its really pretty easy.
I will be installing LEDs on this module this weekend and will take pictures that help with the steps above and update
this thread.
