Awesome! So, you didnt have to make new holes? They were all existing? I ask because I used to have the same box in my pickup but it needed holes to be drilled.Performing Maverick mods seems to be some good physical therapy! It's not painless, but it feels good to be doing something again!
I remove the toolbox from the pile of waiting mods and got to work. I did not take any pictures during the install (my bad) but the included instructions were 99.9% on point. The only thing I had to do different, was enlarge the D-pillar holes that were put there by the factory. There was too much paint for the studs to come through.
Here's a pic of it installed:
Fully opened:
Here's where the two studs are located.. The tail light assembly has to be removed to push them through. This hinge does block off access to the 12v accessory wire, but it's super easy to pull the entire cubby out and reach the wire from behind!
The instructions say to drill out two of the holes in the plastic cubby, to insert two spacers. The holes in mine were already, so no drilling required. The kit does come with new screws and it is necessary to use them. The original bolts are too short.
If you're thinking about doing this, I think it's well worth it. This will keep junk and my jumper cables safely out of the cab!
