Be careful it's against the law to record people over the phone without their consent ....
Not necessarily true. Depending on where you live, it may be 100% legal as long as you are a party to the conversation.

Each state has laws addressing this. You would be wise to know your state's law.

After following this thread I decided to proactively email our salesguy about price protection, no add-ons to the truck that are not on original order, x-plan that was accepted when we ordered etc. I actually had my husband send the email since this is his truck and I had to handle the dealer trying to sell our ordered Mav in Feb. Salesguy confirmed via email, we have locked in price protection, they accepted our x-plan (need to provide pay stub as employment proof as x-plan is a wk benefit) and that they would not add anything on. We intended to add on the upgraded alarm system but I was not letting the dealer know that till we had an agreement on those terms. My husband agreed when ordering, to pay $1500 over MSRP (against my opinions) so I do not want them getting any other $. I added on the security plus system yesterday evening, it even scheduled install right thru the Ford site.

The truck is being inspected, cleaned and gased up this afternoon. Unfortunately due to an evening business dinner we can't pick it up till tomorrow 😒 Hopefully all the pricing is good when we get there, I have a file folder w everything printed out from the Ford memo on price protection, to pay stub copy and X-Plan pin and print out.
If your dealer agreed to x-plan, they cannot add a $1500 ADM. X-plan guarantees .4% under invoice, and capped doc fees. I would remind them of this, and open a case with Ford Corp if they try to pull this BS on you.

WHAT?!?! I thought it was just to get $ off the sale??? Or atleast in 2014 that was what happened when I used it for my Ford Fusion I got $2500-3000 off. I had qualified w Ford finance for 0% for 5 yrs and that was also an option w x-plan or $ off. The salesman circled our x-plan price on the preview order and initialed it. He was leary we had proof thru employer as a employee benefit (I found that odd as we gave them the pin) but my husband has worked for 10 yrs at this Fortune 500 company and we have used X-plan w Ford 3 times before. Always as $ off or 0% financing. I will absolutely look into what we get! Thank you for the heads up, I appreciate it!!

August order, I should get price protection, BUT I asked the dealership to get rid of a few constrained options in February - just like the FORD email said to do. Does this mean I no longer qualify for price protection?
Minor changes shouldn't affect price protection.

X-plan is NOT under invoice, it is slightly over invoice. But other than that you are right, if it is an x-plan (and you have a pin#), the price cannot be changed higher/lower. Doc fees are capped.

Better check your books again, direct from Ford:

The Ford X plan price for a vehicle is the dealer invoice minus 0.4% dealer invoice plus an administration fee of $275.

The +$275 effectively means you're paying over invoice until invoice is greater than $68,750.

Technically you are correct, but I think you understand the point. :poop:

Yes, I know how it works. X-plan ends up being higher than invoice in the vast majority of cases. It will be higher than invoice for 100% of Mavericks. You'll confuse people if you tell them x-plan will get them .4% under invoice.

Yeah, I just checked the invoice on SD that has an invoice price of $74,784. X-plan is $74,760. So you have to buy quite an expensive vehicle for X-plan to get you under invoice.
Not even close to being under invoice on a Maverick!

We don't sell many trucks that expensive out here....and certainly wouldn't want to sell those expensive ones at X-plan!

Clarity matters. To make your point, your response should have been something like this:

"When you factor in program costs, then x-plan final price is slightly higher than invoice for lower MSRP vehicles."

There is nothing confusing or misleading about .4% under invoice, plus $275 program fee.

You are correct. My response was not clear or precise. I am sorry. But your original point of getting x-plan under invoice for a Maverick wasn't accurate either.

At any rate, I think we have it all figured out clearly now! :)
