That got me to thinking which is dangerous:
  • Did I want to spend almost $37K (after tax, tags and fees) for a Maverick?
  • Did I really want the “grandpa“ version aka Lariat?
  • Was there value in the extra cost of the Lariat versus the XLT?
The answer to all three was “hell no.” I walked away and my order is currently for sale on their website. Chapman Horsham recently reduced their ADM from $10K to $5K.

I ordered an XLT from another dealer, about $7K less msrp using “X plan” pricing.
Hey now, I just became a dad less than 6 months ago and now you're saying I have a grandpa version Maverick. The grandpa version would be if they came out with a fancied up Lincoln branded Maverick lol

Chapman said that they would sell at 4% below the invoice that why receive from Ford. I don’t see that they aren’t honoring that deal. If Ford increases the invoice, then you are still getting 4% below invoice, right?

The real issue is if Ford increased their invoice after your reservation was placed. In that instance, they should still send the original invoice to Chapman. If Ford sends Chapman a higher invoice, then your beef should be with Ford, because they broke the deal under which your reservation was placed.

It’s not really fair to expect a dealer to absorb Ford’s price increase.

Not exactly. Ford has indicated that orders placed before the price increase will be honored at the original price. It takes some work on the dealer's part however to effectively ask for that difference back from Ford after the sale.

So it appears 1 of 2 things are happening. Either the dealer just doesn't want to do the leg work to get the difference back from Ford (lazy), or they are having the buyer pay the current invoice then getting the difference back from Ford and pocketing it (shady). So it is Lazy or Shady - neither one of those things make the dealer look very good if you ask me.

FWIW I never had this BS with Granger. As a matter of fact I unknowingly qualified for the $750 incentive at the time of my delivery, which they had me sign a sheet for and happily passed that savings on to me. They also raised zero stink over using Ford's excellent 0/0.9/1.9% loan offers either.

Sounds like I'll have my dad and father in law order through Granger later this year. Only a couple of hours further away.

Regardless of how this pans out, there's no way this is "full-scumbag". This is, at worst, "barely filled scumbag".

Yes Chapman should have sent an email to all folks who ordered in 2021 stating they are not honoring price protection. They didn’t do this so it puts them in the shady category, as they most likely are pocketing the price protection from ford and not passing that adjustment to the consumer. The intent is for price protection to be passed to the customer and the dealer. Chapman is not doing this if in fact they are being shady

I picked up from Chapman Horsham about two weeks ago. Process went very smoothly. 4% below invoice. I think I waited about 30 minutes to see the finance guy, and then it took about 30 minutes to get the paperwork done. And then I was on my way. When I showed up at the dealership, my Mav was already out front ready to go so I used the time waiting to check it out, get the Ford Pass and app set up, and talk to the vehicle prep guy about snowboarding (I am a skier).

I was also able to use the $500 Farm Bureau cash reward and I got the 0% Ford financing since I ordered last fall. I did not get the price protection but in the end it was a $180 difference so I chose not to nit pack on that one.

Key to using the Farm Bureau cash and getting the now expired Ford incentives is to back date the reward. If you use the current reward, I believe Ford rejects it as being invalid since you are going on order date (e.g. 2021) and the 2022 reward wasn't yet valid. In the Farm Bureau site, enter your order date for the sales date (I believe you choose the already purchased option) and you will get a 2021 code. Give this to Chapman, and they will then be able to enter it into the Ford system so you can get the reward.

All in all, a great experience. If I buy another Ford, I will definitely go with Chapman.

All dealers charge Doc fees. In NY it is capped by law at 175. Florida has some of the highest doc fees in the country approaching 1K. The way I understand it unless capped by law they can charge whatever they want. But the have to charge every customer the same.
All dealers do not charge doc fees. There is no rule or law that says that they have to.
George Coleman Ford in Travelers Rest, SC, my dealer, does not. It is not required. It is just greedy fucking dealers looking to shove more money in their pockets to make their boat payments.

The one for credit tier is a Ford Financial promotion which is a separate thing than the incentivized rates or customer cash offers. But programs like the Farm Bureau expire and get renewed annually. If you generate a 2022 certificate and your dealer selects the option to base incentives on order date (to also get the promotional finance rates, for instance) then that '22 certificate doesn't work because it doesn't match the '21 program code. So you need to do the method mentioned to generate a '21 certificate.
