If your pulled over just tell the cop your are traveling, not driving. According to the internet u don't need a license or registration to travel.

Traveling for commerce, which is protected by the constitution. I always loved getting that prior to my retirement from law enforcement.

Totally agree on the sales tax...at least here in Ohio...but poster may mean the income tax by having the dealership retain more staff by making more sales. Just a thought.

All states different. In my state if you are charged sales tax at time of purchase in a different state you are at time of registration given credit for sales tax paid in other state. If local sales tax is more than those in state of purchase the buyer will have to pay the additional amount.

Purchasing in the state you reside makes it simple, it wasnt' the greatness of your dealer.

Maybe. I paid the sales taxes to them instead of to the state directly but even then I couldn't unless the state had the title. Because my office is right next to a cop shop and I've been ticketed in the same spot for a delayed registration a couple years back I'm wary to tempt fate by doing it again.

The light just came on. He must work next to (I believed him or someone referred to it as a cop shop so it must be next to) a cop training facility. So they may as part of their training have to write a ticket? Brings up memory! About 1980 I was driving down a street about six blocks from the cop training facility and there was about 12-15 cops standing on a corner and one was in the middle of the intersection directing traffic (I was the only car at the time). He put his hand up to stop a non existing vehicle and was waving me through and someone, I assume the instructor, apparently said something to him and he turned with his hands still up indicating for me to stop. I was traveling fairly fast and stood on the brakes and when he heard the squealing tires he turned back towards me and was still giving his signaling and was indicating for me to go through, so without coming to a complete stop, I floored the gas and saw almost all the cops in my rear view bending over in laughter!
