My thoughts exactly. In addition to our peace of mind we support jobs in our communities and keep taxes paid in our states. Shop Locally is more than a slogan.
People don’t think of that, unfortunately, when they buy cheap crap with “free” shipping from Amazon, Wal Mart, etc.

As long as you have the vehicle insured, and you have a papertrail of trying to get the tag- no ones going to give you trouble - judge would laugh and dismiss it - you are doing everything you can!

I would like to take this opportunity to state that EVERY state has different requirements to register a vehicle. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to know what they need. Going to another state and assuming that a temp tag would be available or valid is not a great plan. Since you don't live in PA or intend to register it in PA I don't see how you could use a temp tag.

Regarding the title, I purchased a car before the pandemic and it was a statewide backlog of titles that took 2 months to arrive so I could drive off with the vehicle.

After no response over the weekend I have reached out out to them this morning. They said they got a brick of temp tags in Friday, which is funny because they also just got one in Thursday per a prior comment. Explaining things to the sales manager seems to have cleared things up and they are getting one sent overnight.
Today, a license plate.

Tomorrow, world peace.

I know posting in anger is not the best thing but at this point I have no idea what else I can do.

I placed my order through Chapman and they were super cool throughout the order process. Since I picked up the Maverick 2/26 it has been a real hassle with the registration. I was not sent a temp tag by them so I got one from the dealer here. Florida temp tags are only 30 days, but that should be plenty of time to get the title here and have the vehicle registered. Two weeks ago I heard nothing from the DMV so I reached out. The state showed the title still had not arrived so I reached out to sales. They said if I didn't have it by 3/24 to let them know and I would be overnighted a PA temp tag, good for 60 days.

Not one to wait until the last minute I emailed this past Monday, 3/21, and explained to the sales rep that I hadn't got anything from the state and it still shows that they had not received the title. I didn't hear anything back so I emailed the GM. I then heard back from the sales rep that they were going to wait until Thursday to send it. Thursday an email comes and says "We are waiting for PAA to send us a brick of temp tags so that we can send you one. Hopefully, we get them today or tmrw so we can overnight it to you." Nothing came Friday. Nothing came Saturday, which was the last day my FL temp tag was valid. I am now stuck with a vehicle I cannot legally drive. This means I cannot drive to work. This means I cannot pick up my son from school or take him to his swimming lessons. This means I cannot drive my mother to the hospital and she's due to have heart surgery this week. This means I cannot operate a vehicle I just purchased.

I am hard pressed to buy that the dealer had absolutely no temp tags available because that would mean that they couldn't sell a vehicle for the last three days. They couldn't get one from any of the other three locations sent to me? They can't get the title to my state in 30 days? This is beyond ridiculous and I am at a loss for what to do next.

Sorry for your problem but I would say this is a 100% dealer issue with the title. I had my Maverick drop shipped to a dealer in North Carolina from Long McArthur Ford in Kansas. They sent the title to the delivering dealer and was handed to me when I picked up the vehicle along with a 60 day temp tag. I would be camped out in that dealers showroom until you got some service.

if I thought it would help I'd have showed them naked pictures of my mother-in-law. Then again there's laws against war crimes.

It's a ticket if it's less than a week and a mandatory court appearance if it's over a week. Unless you're the one who's going to pay for it don't tell me it's a non-issue
It’s a non-issue because no reasonable LEO is going to ticket you for this offense
Now if you make a big enough deal about getting pulled over I could see you getting a ticket

I’m going to assume you are an older, responsible, tax paying adult…. It’s very unlikely you would be on their radar

Congrats on wasting everyone’s time (or entertaining everyone, I’ve not decided which)

If you show up at the dealership, make yourself cordially comfortable in the lobby and refuse to leave without a tag...i might try it. Id bring snacks, paperback books, and make it clear i was there for the long haul until i left with a tag.

In CA, i got title and tags within 7 days, and i was pleasantly surprised. DMV is usually a nightmare, here.

Also, what a rotten situation. So sorry this is happened to you. Lala

What is Chapman? Is it a Florida dealer?

I understand OP. I just finished my paperwork with Chapman on Thursday.

They did not send a temp tag but a picture of my signed sales contract they received back from the overnighted paperwork and told me to go to the DMV and get a temp tag here in Florida.

I was like what? How the hell am I going to the DMV with no paperwork and a picture you sent me in an email of my paperwork? I call them up and they tell me they only have so many temp tags and I can go tthe DMV if I want it sooner and they will reimburse me the $34.

I said you charged me and I paid for the temp tag. I emailed several people explaining that I am not going to the DMV. They Finally sent me an email that they got a bunch of temp tags from the state and overnighted me one that I got yesterday.

During the paperwork process I asked several times when I would get the temp tags but no one answered me.

I know they are busy but communication from these guys was not great and somewhat frustrating.
Odd.

Here in NJ the dealers have to be hooked into the state system, and they print the temp tag right there.

In GA we are allowed 1 30-day temp tag.

I hope they have it better worked out by the time mine arrives.
I bought mine at a local dealer in Maine. Ford made it when they said they would, shipped it earlier, arrived Friday afternoon and I drive it home Tuesday. Registered Wednesday. Nothing like home town trade.

I all seriousness, is driving with bad tags the worst thing "Florida Man" has ever done? Your problem isn't the Maverick or even Ford. It's the timing and lack of communication between dealership and DOT. Sadly you're gonna get screwed either way. Why are you whining about it here? For validation?

A lot of people have ordered through the same dealer. I have already explained why this is an issue. People have had all sorts of dealer issues and posted about it here, whether with this one or with another dealer.

And yes, it's a big deal to me. As my momma likes to say, never say it's only X if it ain't your money that's going to be spent.

I received my physical tags in less than 48hrs after purchase. ( They got tired of the guy wondering in asking about his truck and paperwork every Ford status update lol). It's one of the ONLY things the government has truly fixed for the better and lately they have been working tirelessly to ruin a nerely 100% automated system.
