Dealer told me maverick will need truck license plates in Illinois. What about your dealer? What about your state?
This is problem because some roads do not allow trucks on them.
I see a mix of pickups on the road with car plates and truck plates.
What confusion!
Which plates will you get?

Here in California if you don't pay to register you truck as commercial vehicle you can't carry anything in the bed and cops can tell by the fact you only have 1 letter on the plate (7W30363) now a days the letter is second on the right wear as mine is second on the left

Also in IL. Dealer said same registration/plates as a car.

I will let the dealer register it for one year and after it expires I will never pay it again - as an act of civil disobedience. I shouldn't have to pay to use my own property, and our jolly old gov'na JB "The Hut" Prickster raised the registration fee from $100 (already obscene) to $150 once he took office - a 50% increase! No thanks!

I know in MI and OH it’s more of a commercial use vs personal use thing then it is anything else. I would bet your dealer is wrong. It doesn’t weigh enough to justify additional costs
However Illinois has been know to do some wonky things 😂

When you see no trucks, it generally means no trucks over a gvw limit, not lite trucks which are passenger vehicles.

that being said, your state dmv will classify it based on the VIN and stated use. So a farm truck will be treated as such, commercial, likewise.

I am guessing this will be your first vehicle that is not classically considered a car.

I really don't care about you doing this tbh. But I beg of you when some poor cop writes you a ticket not to go all sovereign citizen on them. Yes I'm salty because I had to deal with one of these types last week.

Do not worry, most of these types are Gecko45/mall ninja types.

the internet allows for a degree of anonymity which begets false bravado.

years ago, my philosophy mentor suggested to contest this that we always post using a verifiable ID and to remember that if it is not worth signing your real name to, it’s not worth saying to begin with.

True is true.

fortunately for geneticists and doctors everywhere my biological genes were never passed on. I do like to think some of my thought genetics got passed down to my students over the years though. Maybe at least enough to be able to know what they believe and why they believe it.

I will 100% be going "all sovereign citizen" (if that's what you wanna call it, I call it American) on them. The supreme court has affirmed multiple times that Americans have the right to freely travel. Plus the ticket is cheaper than the registration, if it comes to that. Anyway, I hope you don't enforce victimless "crimes". Sounds like you may be cool if you really don't care about registrations, however I'll refrain from judging you online.

Me... a mall ninja? lol. Imagine sticking up for people's rights with peaceful disobedience and having people hate on you for it. Shows how brainwashed this nation really is....

Car license plate/registration should be fine, though. I made it a point to ask all about that to my dealer and he clarified it. Mav only weighs like 3700lbs, and being unibody one could argue it isn't really even a "truck" (to me it is a truck, but some of my friends are for sure gonna beat me up a little about that)

Good question. I think the Drop Ship Dealer told me it would be a car plate. But since I haven't registered it yet, I'm not betting on anything. In Florida it goes by weight so I'm hopeful is a car plate.

No actually you are more of a mall lawyer. Not only do you have no clue what the law and what the courts have said, the rationale is beyond you. It’s sad, but in the pair of ignorance and stupidity, wherein ignorance can be cured with information represent the 2nd array item.

good luck.

OK, boomer. I see you have the ignorance to judge folks online by reading a scant few words they wrote.

le sigh. I'll read your Ron Swanson note then I swear. It may be shocking but I actually don't get to pick and choose what to enforce or not. I have bosses too and they get kinda upset with that.
