Hybrid Battery with Power Outlet - Usage?

Hello Everyone,

I'm wanting to go camping with the hybrid and wondering how the bed power outlet works.

Will I be able to plug in a CPAP machine, fan and maybe a small lamp using an extension cord and power strip and tap into the hybrid batteries? Been reading that you have to start truck. Will that just run electric motor and use hybrid batteries?

I really want an AWD, and been reading about the good MPG that 2.0 Ecoboost is providing for trainers driving to dealerships. If I can't tap into hybrid batteries, thinking about going with FX4 IF my build isn't scheduled today.

Here's the info from the manual... I'm wondering if it's on a timer to prevent it from running out, though.

"
POWER OUTLET LIMITATIONS
Devices may exceed the power rating
shown the device label when plugged in.
Unplug the device and switch the ignition
on and off to reset the system.
You should not use the power outlet for
these types of electric devices:
• Cathode ray tube type televisions.
• Motor loads, for example vacuum
cleaners, electric saws and other
electric power tools, or
compressor-driven refrigerators.
• Measuring devices which process
precise data, for example medical
equipment or measuring equipment.
• Other appliances requiring an
extremely stable power supply, for
example microcomputer-controlled
electric blankets or touch sensor
lamps.
LOCATING THE POWER
OUTLET
The power outlet could be on the
instrument panel, the rear of the center
console or in the pickup bed."

Nobody like it when I say things like this but if I was still using a cpap, or any continuous drain lines fr saving appliance I would run a separate power source.
Use the inverter or some other way to charge a 12v. Possibly get a cpap designed for 12v.

your HVB is, in my mind, the single largest wear component in your vehicle (queue entry of someone saying battery tech is different stop saying things like that)

my understanding is the system will turn the engine on as needed to maintain the HVB charge. My understanding may be very wrong. But, I do not want an ice engine going off and on over night. And if on the off chance I am wrong, you were to drain your HVB, others have said you are stuck.

so spend the money and get a separate isolated pack. Sure you can change it odd the 110, but you have better control and It’s less expensive to maintain/replace.

Nobody like it when I say things like this but if I was still using a cpap, or any continuous drain lines fr saving appliance I would run a separate power source.
Use the inverter or some other way to charge a 12v. Possibly get a cpap designed for 12v.

Saw something called "Jackery" on youtube...might be worth checking out.

I am agreeing with you, I think Jackery or similar is the way to go.

I do disaster management and work with the chronically ill. My mind is geared to look at worse and worst case scenarios.

isolation of faults, redundancy of solution are both positive traits

one is none, two is 1, three is better pending resource allocation

Yeah, I was thinking that gas engine would be turning on throughout the night. Definitely don't want that happening.

I have a small battery pack that will run just the CPAP for a night it. Been looking to purchase a much larger one. Was just seeing if maybe I already had one in the truck's hybrid batteries.

The Jackery 500 claims to run a CPAP for 9 hours on with a 518 Wh battery. If the EVB in the Maverick is 1.1 kWh (1100 Wh), you should be able to run a CPAP overnight without needing the ICE to fire up. This is assuming there isn't an auto shutoff timer on the outlets in the Maverick.

There are a lot of assumptions built into that line of reasoning. Is the HVB at capacity? How much does it take to start the ice? What is the efficiency of conversion at each stage.

I hear what you are saying, just remember the caveats before trusting a life saving appliance on something.
