It doesn’t really matter where you order now. All Canadian orders will be taken but won’t be put in the system until Aug 16th. So any orders now will be for the 2023 model starting production October 26th unless Ford changes the dates.
Ok, so why do some dealers say it only takes 4 to 6 months?
Why didn't they tell me the truth?

because they're clueless. I ordered in mid-Jan fully loaded with all the constraints except hybrid and already have a VIN and production date. Guessing it's because Thorncrest is a big dealer and Ford wants to make all the money it can off suckers who ordered 4k FX4 and Lariat packages, considering all the crossover items.

I put a deposit at Formula Ford in Pickering as well. Was told $1000 but only ended up putting $500. I was working with and junior sale rep, but the manager's name is Dean. Totally didn't think that I'd get a Mav this year as I put the deposit down on Feb 14th.

I don't know if this was a canceled custom order or a dealer order, it was placed Jan 19th and that it was schedule for week of Mar 21. Was also told that it should arrive in April. I don't think that's going to happen and was more sales speak than anything else. I do have a VIN and the Canadian tracking site when it works shows confirmed.

My order is for a XLT, Alto Blue, Lux (DIBL) FX4, 4K tow, CP360, Moonroof, full spare, protective film, manual rear window. There was no market adjustment, only additional fee was an admin fee of $399.

The process is not quite transparent in Canada. But since you've gotten the VIN already, it should ok.
One concern is since last November Ford hasn't accepted new orders for Maverick, how can you get a VIN if you placed the order after Jan 2022.

Yes, now it's not quite easy to order one. Not sure why Ford doesn't open the online orders instead of via the dealers to place the orders.

It could be the same procedure as online shopping and pick up in the store.

I called Ford canada and the service rep indicated that if you can build and price on the ford.ca website, they are still taking orders. When those orders are placed seems to be a mystery.

I contacted three dealerships in GTA in southern ontario and all of them said similar things: a) Order now and likely time frame is 6-8 months or longer b) May be rolled over to 2023 and cannot price protect c) all asked for deposit $500-$1000 d) all of them said they are supposed to be receiving allocations at their dealership for 2022.

My biggest gripe is trying to see if there is any way to get any discount at all...like throw in some accessories or few hundred dollars off. None of them offered any discount except mentioned only way to get discount is through the X-plan program: if you work for Ford or any affiliated company with eligibility to get 4% less than invoice pricing.

I saw GTA in the thread title and thought, "are they now offering Mavericks in Grand Theft Auto?"

Not sure how far north you would like to travel, it ihad a good experience with Christina at McAlpine Ford in Aurora.

However, I did not place an order. I was just hunting to find an incoming dealer unit, calling every dealership I drove by if I noticed one in stock. I have an 85 km commute, can easily drive by half a dozen Ford dealerships.

By chance, Christina called me and said it was sold. But they had a dealer unit incoming and was curious if I was still interested.

Just passed 4000km on the way home today.

Wow, you are so lucky.
I asked that dealer days ago and got all responses similar to TdotMav commented above.

This was what answered from that dealer:

I've contacted more than 10 dealers and most of them responded as you described.

Dealers are funny. They don’t always know what’s going on. On here I think we know more than most dealers because we see endless posts on it. I have been very nice to mine and continued to try push my order along. I think if they knew and told people it would take a year most people would walk out of a dealership. So they might lie just to get the sale and wait just like everyone else in here for it.

-weston ford. stereotypical sleazy dealership. avoid like the plague.
-yonge/steeles ford. seemed reasonable, but clueless about their incoming stock.
-eastgate ford (hamilton). purchased incoming dealer stock oct.3, delivered nov. 3. msrp. no bullshit. no document fee or other garbage. very happy with them.
