I think a few online authors pieced together bits and pieces and made partially true claims.

Long McArthur has a few F-150's on the lot awaiting wiper motors. The vendor for the Claycomo facility will send them when they arrive. The sold vehicles will not have their paperwork completed until the truck is up to the dealership's standards.

I have not read where a customer will take delivery of an unfinished truck. It isn't sold until it's fully assembled. Anyone who buys and drive home an unfinished truck is way to desperate for my taste.

I think that IF Ford implements this plan that it's a win-win for all, Ford/Dealrships and the customer. It will relieve the backlog of outstanding orders, those parked in lots waiting for silicon/parts and relief to their customers. Like I said in a previous post it's a minor inconvenience to customers to go back and have those parts installed. The only problem I see is a delivery shortage of rail/trucks and drivers.......
It may be a minor inconvenience but only if we are allowed to go to our nearest dealer when it comes time for those chips to be installed. What do those of us do who are purchasing a vehicle from a dealer that is not right down the street from us? As many problems as this may solve, it seems to me that Ford is the only real winner here and the customers are left trading one hassle for another hassle.

I would think that if u purchased from an east coast dealer and u live on the west coast that Ford would say go to your local dealer for install......

I don't know I just don't know I guess I would rather have a incomplete Maverick then have it out in the hot Sun in a Dusty dirty hot filthy field sand storms ect. At least it would be home so I can was and wax it !!!! Also I think it's time for Ford to PONY UP SOME COLD HARD CASH For all these inconveniences to the customer and I agree 100% extend warranty the regular on does not start until the vehicle is put together 100%. $$$$$

If they did it for the spray in liner, I'd go for it. Chips? Nope

Also when the chips do come in who get them??? The ones that are being built right at that time or the ones that are out on the road who gets them what would be right.😲🤔❔❔👍👎🤔

I believe it's related to safety related "chips"
Understood. If they can do it for chips, then why not for spray in bed liner?

Otherwise it would be foolish to accept an incomplete vehicle, imo. But my opinion doesn't have to be yours.

Seems like a tactic to get those MY22 orders built during MY22. That could save Ford a lot of money by not having to honor and build MY23 trucks for MY22 prices. 🤔

I’ld be ok with this as long as there is some buyer protection to assure we get what we paid for or some sort of compensation.

This wouldn't be that far fetched Ford allowed you to remove start stop last year on F150 to get it scheduled quicker and you got a $50 credit for doing it. GM also got rid of start stop and cylinder deactivation on some trucks due to chip supply issues.

I think its going to get a lot worse. What do you think all this warfare related tech is using that everyone is using in the Ukraine/Russian conflict? All this tech that is being destroyed is going to have to be replaced, and what do you think is going to get higher priority, someone's heated seats or a Javelin?

I think this is going to get rough before it gets better, most of the planned chip manufacturing facilities are going to take a couple years to get up and running. And we had better hope China does not make a move on Taiwan, or things will get wayyyy worse.
As I said in one of my other post 90% of the raw materials for chips come from Ukraine!

You bring up a good point. What if the dealer I take my truck to doesn't have the chips? Will they just keep my truck until they can get a hold of chips from another dealer or ford?
