Hi Club Maverick,

Is there someone out there having problems with their hood paint???

M and my son are Maverick owners and we both have chips near the same place.

AND NO! Don’t even think of asking the question, IT’S NOT THE WIPERS ARMS LIFTED ACCIDENTLY (the dents are not where the arms meets the hood).

Those kind of chips should be the consequence of a hard hit, so how in the world can it be hit so hard at that hood location?

My Ford dealer will take photos to submit to Ford Canada. I hope for good news…

Mine is the black one and my son is the silver one.

Is there debris down in that hole or a missalligned seal that is rubbing when you open the hood. The silver one has an obvious defined amount of impact marks. Maybe count them and check the count after a few days and think back to what may be the cause if the count increases? Could try putting some white grease on the chipped area and open the hood several times and work the wipers several times and look for impressions and contacts of the grease?

Did you have to sweep off snow? I saw another post about a broom chipping the paint.

Yes sir, here in Canada, we sweep snow from our cars 4 months per year. I hope that sweeping snow from a car is not becoming a dangerous manouver for the integrity of it??? ;) But don't worry, we only sweep our cars we do not bang it with the sweeper!(y)

That is from the wiper arms being up and slamming down on the hood or your snow brush. Warranty won’t cover that if it’s your fault. Something definitely rubbed the paint with force. You’ll have to use touch up paint properly to fix it. If you do it right, you won’t see the scratches anymore.

Nope, not the wiper arm, does not align where the chips are! For your second possible scenario, if it’s the snow brush, for both of the Maverick you in the pics, we, in north, are in deep trouble! YOU CAN’T USE A SNOW BRUSH ANYMORE TO WIPE SNOW FROM YOUR MAVERICK’S!!!!! Ford will soon publish a warning that it is extremely dangerous too use that kind of tool that can cause tremendous amount of damage on your hood paint! 🤣🤣🤣, Come on, since cars exist, we wipe out the snow with a snow brush, we do not use it to get pleasure banging it on our brand new trucks! 😉🤘🏻Any other idea?

In that case, it may be worth it for you to bring it to the dealer and then open up a claim to see if they’ll warranty paint work. Maybe your paint is chipping due to a failure.

You said YOU didn't mess with the wipers, but given that everyone and their mother wants to see / test drive these things and no dealer has any in stock, how do you know someone else didn't do it in-between delivery and you picking it up?

I was just thinking that. Maybe someone on the lot did it while they were cleaning off snow or preparing for a snowstorm with the wipers. This looks identical to the marks that the wipers make when they left up and then slam down on the hood. Even the way that it looks like it’s skipped every few millimeters for about an inch long. It’s identical to how mine happened.
