Good news, bad news. The salesman told me it was damaged and then sold it to someone else!

Thanks, I still have tears in my eyes😥 The salesman told me this is the second hybrid in two weeks that came in so damaged that they had to be returned!
I would keep a close eye on the VIN on that returned Maverick. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wound up titled and registered in someone else’s name.. sorry I just have a distrust for most dealers.

So last night I get a call from someone at the dealership thanking me for my business. I replied I hadn’t completed a transaction there yet and was still waiting to hear about my truck delivery. He said it would be arriving at the dealer today, Wednesday, and my salesman would be giving me a call. I thanked him, hung up and started packing for my 8 hour road trip. I was so excited I got up at 3 AM and left by 4:30 AM. As I was driving through Jacksonville my salesman called and I was so excited! He said “I have some good news and some news that might make you a little upset.“ Then he said the truck arrived but it had been damaged on the transport truck and the roof was so damaged they had to return it! I was stunned and couldn’t say anything for a minute or two and then I just blurted out that I was not a little upset, I was a lot upset! He apologized and said they would give me highest priority for another Lariat that was unclaimed. I’m afraid that did not make me feel any better! Back to the waiting game 😩
I am a little north of Jax myself, but still in FL. I was just curious where your dealer was that you had to drive 8 hours. I ordered my Mav from Garber in Green Cove and they were awesome to deal with. Mine is scheduled to build next week and I hope my roof is not caved in. I hope you get a new one ASAP.

If you have any close friends on a local police force, maybe have them run the VIN in a month or so and see if your vehicle is registered to someone.

I work at a dealer and damaged vehicles never get "returned" not saying it couldn't happen but

Very possible. I work at a dealer and damaged vehicles never get returned...

I am wondering if it was damaged via rail or truck. Either way there are probably some pictures out there but it's unlikely the dealer would have them. Any photos would be taken by the rail or trucking company and would be in their possession for insurance purposes.

I work for a company that uses rail and truck for shipping and if there are any damages the photos don't go to the customer. But either way keep up with the VIN# to check if something shady is going on.

Don’t do it, it could cost that cop his job…. Not worth it, just google or carfax the vin.. running plates and vins for non law enforcement reasons cost jobs.

May take a day or more for status updates to occur but call the 800 (sorry I don't recall it) number and see what is happening on your vin#.
I just sent a PM to Ford motor company in this forum. I’m also going to post a public question asking how they address damages. Something is definitely fishy!

I was in NC and cut my trip short to come back for the truck. I bought my C max through Garber and they were great!

This situation totally sucks for GreenLady however until you have a purchase order signed, financing or cash payment done, and handed the keys a dealer can pretty much do what they want with a refused order ( even if it is a scumbag dishonest move ) With a customer order there is a vin that is yours from the factory. Ford Corporate wont get involved at all. Possible some dude came up and offered 5K more than they were going to get from you. Maybe the dealership owner's son wanted a Maverick. The harder it is to get the more this kind of crap will happen. I doubt it was damaged and I doubt they are telling you the truth. A few months ago I found a hybrid in Florida and had agreed to the price then got the PO and it was 5K over what the salesman had quoted me which was already full of ADM's . The dealership said take it or leave it. I left it. So sorry you have seen the true nature of the stealership sales model.

Yes, I am losing faith in that dealer since there are supposedly no pictures and I still have not received a vehicle history report. I did pm Ford motor company and askEd them to look into it.

Well, with this new 3 month delay, we might ALL need to be researching available Mavericks.

What about a thread for that? Folks could link to available trucks with a quick description.

Hybrid or Ecoboost
colour
trim model XL, XLT, Lariat or FE
LUX? CoPilot 360?
Spray-in bedliner?
Moonroof?
Back window?
Etc.

Ford OUGHT to now require that anyone with an existing order gets the same or similar model at their original contract price. (No markups!)

Crazy times.
