I don't know if this has been me ruined already but looks like the head unit is a Harman model CTR. If you Google that you can get the manual for it and it (appears) to have satellite and gps capabilities. I bet someone can get those features working through firmware and plugging in the proper antennas
The Harman CTR may be in the same family of ACMs that Ford uses, but it is not the exact unit used in the Maverick.

Here is a diagram of connections on the CTR taken direct from the Owner's Manual. Note the SDARS Antenna input port.

Here is a photo of the Maverick ACM.
Ford Maverick No APIM in XLT and below (Unable to upgrade Sync) 1642691188848

Notice on the Maverick ACM the missing SDARS Antenna input. This is for the SiriusXM antenna. This shows that the CTR is not the exact unit used in the Maverick.

However, given the link https://www.opuradio.com/products/h...-for-2018-2020-ford-fiesta-mk8-receiver-focus generously supplied by propp2531 the CTR ACM can be purchased for $72.00 which is in the price range for adding a separate SiriusXM module. So, there are questions about using this unit to upgrade and add SiriusXM to the Maverick. Are the other features the same? Maybe as a group we can determine this is just a swap out with the Maverick ACM. Does it require programming through ForScan? Don't know yet.

I just noticed the ACM on the above link closely matches the Maverick ACM because it also does not have the SDARs input like the manual shows. More research is needed.

Thanks propp2531 for the info you supplied. It does give me hope for a relatively cheap upgrade to get SiriusXM with operation on the main display.

My first thought was is this just missing the connector and can it be soldered on. If so does this even have a tuner installed? Also the white connector is labeled as FM2. What does that mean? Can you get a sirius tuner and connect it to FM2?

A lot of questions on this but given Fords way of doing things enabling through software should be the easy part. The hardware is going to be a challenge. Ive looked for a CTR model with the SDARS connector in place and they are no where to be found.

Yes, a lot of questions, but then I'm an inquisitive ol' soul. I have not found a CTR ACM with the SDARS connector either, but obviously since it is shown in the Owner's Manual, they were made. I'll continue to look.

Thanks.

Very surprised that this thing doesn't have an APIM.... With that said, the 54 pin APIM wiring is not magic... Everything that the APIM needs would be present in the XL and XLT. My guess is that the main connectors (J1 and J2 per the diagram) would be where someone could tap in and get everything required to run a sync 3 or maybe even sync 4 system. Would have to pull the diagrams to be sure but a sync 3 swap would just require an adapter harness to go from that J1/J2 connector to the sync 54 pin and whatever the sync 3 ACM would require. Steering wheel controls are handled through CAN BUS messages. The screen, GPS module, and USB connectors would go to the APIM with the upgrade.

Or, perhaps accidentally run across a Harman CTR with the SDARS input antenna port and replace the unit without it.

Yeah, I'm not having too much luck either. But we know they must have made them since the diagram with the SDARS is in the CTR Manual.

From what I can tell the Maverick is the first time they’ve used this radio in the US unfortunately

Yes, unfortunately this seems to be true. Surely someone like Infotainment.com will come up with an upgrade. They have Sync 3 upgrades with APIM, but I found no ACMs, except those with CDs. I'll keep looking and if you find something, please let me know. TIA.

Until then, I'll continue to investigate the spare ports and using my Commander Touch SiriusXM.

I’m working on something with @zackmd1 he’s given me a lot of really good info. I’m sourcing parts right now and if all goes well I’ll write it up

Been doing some research on this and found this much. XLT certain models have the APIM Sync III module on them. If you have that then this aftermarket tuner kit will work in an XLT and Lariat trim. They even specify the Maverick as a compatible vehicle.
https://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/ford-siriusxm-radio-oem-factory-radio-kit/

What is also interesting is they build the models according to the parts catalogs with 2 specific antennas. The ones without satellite radio capability on all trims including the Lariat without the Lux. package and one with only on the Lariat w/the Lux package it also has a different wiring package. Point being there is no way to make SiriusXM work even if you can get the software loaded without changing the stock antenna and wiring or using a separate antenna and tuner on all the Maverick trims less the Lariat w/Lux. package.

On the XL trim you can add the APIM unit for sure it costs $77 and the unit on Mavericks is the same APIM used on other vehicles like a 2020 -2023 Explorer. What is not known is if the head unit on the XL trim will work with the APIM or not. With that said you can get the head unit on the XLT that does work for sure with the SYNC module for about $530.

It could theoretically work with the APIM but it doesn’t have a satellite tuner in it so it you will essentially only get the same functionality it has now. I found a 2020 escape tuner and have an APIM on the way. Hoping to have some updates in a few weeks since this is going to take a bit to get set up. @zackmd1 is going to be a huge help on this and I doubt I’d get it done without him. As soon as I get anything even remotely working I’ll give an update

I have to walk back the sync III on the XLT. There are 2 APIM modules, one without sync on the XLT and higher trims. The other with sync III.

If you go to parts.ford.com the part number is 19A387 . The easiest way to get the correct APIM module is search using a VIN from a Lariat with the Lux. package from an online car sales site to get the listing for the right module. They cost $77 for the module. It should be a straight up swap and then some tinkering with forscan.

The second option is to also get the correct head unit which is part # 10D885 which costs $593.00.

We are still back to having to replace the antenna and wiring (which looks to have the tuner built into harness but unconfirmed)to keep it all Ford parts like in the Lariat lux package. It is doable if you replace both then find as built data on a Lariat with the lux package and load the settings in the APIM and ACM with the correct units. The antenna issue is a bit more work and probably cheaper and less work involved to use the aftermarket antenna/tuner kit.

You don’t have to replace the antenna if you don’t mind running a 3rd party fakra Sirius antenna. I found one on Amazon pretty cheap.

Yes but unless the APIM unit also has the tuner you are back to the Ford OEM kit sold by siriusxm.
