My husband and I were just talking about it and I am sincerely curious about the reasoning for ordering the Ecoboost without AWD or instead of the hybrid with FWD. If you did order this combination, what say you?

I did the same.My original order was going to be a hybrid but after a few days I decided to go 2.0, AWD, 4K towing for the xtra capability.
Now if the hybrid was offered with AWD I would of went hybrid even if the 4K option was unavailable.
AWD went on for me because I will be towing a 2,600# boat and boat ramps can be pretty precarious around these parts.I ordered an Iconic Silver XLT with 2.0 ecoboost with the 4k tow package, because I want to have the extra towing capability, which is not available in the hybrid. I do not, however, anticipate many situations where 4WD will be needed, so I feel I can go without it, and save a few buckaroos.

Yeah, we would have done AWD on the hybrid if available, but decided we preferred the hybrid over the 2.0. Can’t wait to see that combo! My original order was going to be a hybrid but after a few days I decided to go 2.0, AWD, 4K towing for the xtra capability.

The Maverick hybrid has a eCVT not a CVT. Only a letter off but very different. It'll be ultra slick and smooth and basically drive like an old Prius/fusion hybrid or a current Escape hybridI am not a fan of CVT transmissions, so went for the ecoboost and 8-speed. Watched several videos of the beltless CVT, and am not sure it is a CVT in reality. The engine(gasoline) is geared directly via a damper, to the drive axles. There is an electric motor & battery that can add its torque to the output. There is no gear shift nor change in ratios over the speed of the vehicle. I have been to accustomed to actual different gear ratios to take advantage of the torque & power over the engine rpm range. The CVT uses the instant torque of an electric motor to make up for the lack of the gas engine at low rpms, and then the gas engine takes over at higher speed. It must work as it is the same basic design used in Toyota Prius and the Ford Fusion/Escape. Just too used to shifty transmissions, I guess. Not to sure on turbo'd engines, though they were used extensively during WWII in aircraft engines.

I'm pretty sure this build will get the highest payload capacity tooI ordered the 2.0 FWD with 4k for the extra towing capacity. I do not need AWD where I live and it only snows appreciable amounts once every decade plus I never go off roading.
For us really older folks, the eCVT is smooth and shift-free like the Buick Dynaflow from the 50s!The Maverick hybrid has a eCVT not a CVT. Only a letter off but very different. It'll be ultra slick and smooth and basically drive like an old Prius/fusion hybrid or a current Escape hybrid
The 8spd auto is a 9spd with a gear missing because Ford felt the extra gear didn't add any fuel economy
