Well, it's been almost 7 months. Nothing but bad Karma since the truck was produced on 12/10. Looks like it was built on Dec 10th, went to body shop possibly for spray-in bedliner on Dec 17th, and was released from factory on Dec 20th but then went back to Body Company on the same day. Maybe on inspection they noticed a problem.

So, now, assuming that the bed liner was misapplied, I am probably looking at something which is not going to be done correctly and wind up with a rusty bed over time. That's about the only conclusion I can reach. I mean to me, in this scenario, the only correct way to fix this is to make the bed over again. Or scrap the car and do it over. You know that Ford is not going to do this.

I do not know for a fact that this is the delay, but it is the only logical conclusion.

I am thinking of pulling the plug on my order and let some hapless soul deal with the rust issue. Too much bad Karma.

In the time that it has taken to process this order, I have bought another house in another state, and no matter what, this is going to be an issue for dealer with Ford not seeing a match between the address on the order and the ship destination. Even though I am technically in two homes at the moment, there is no need for me to pay state tax in Texas to title it here and then turn around and pay again in PA where I will be moving. The only way that I get around that is to 1) not title it for 6 months in PA after titling in Texas, or 2) shipping directly to PA. PA will accept the taxes from another state as long as you have owned the car a minimum of 6 months.

And before you ask, yes I called Ford Customer Relations. They were unwilling to inform me on anything beyond what I already know.

Right now the alleged delivery date to dealer is around 2/9. I don't see it happening. It's going to sit there in the Mexican desert until the seating is all dry rotted out. It is not dealer's fault, but another in a run of reasons why I should know better than to order a new model in the first year of the model. I always preach to people to wait until Ford works out the kinks. I didn't listen to my own advice and now I am paying for it.

No need to cancel now. When it comes look it over carefully. Hopefully someone will let you know what happen for it to return to the body shop.

You haven't purchased it yet so not sure what was lost - down payment? At any rate I'm sure you can find a dealer nearby who could sell you another maverick or just wait for the 2023..

Wtf.

The body shop manager probably also got in trouble and took it out on your truck by loosening some bolts. Also, the dealership is definitely going to try charging you more. And it goes without saying that the shipping paperwork will be altered so that it gets delivered to some border town where it will be graffiti'd.

Jesus. This rant reminds me of conversations with my methed-out neighbor.

Bed liners can be re-sprayed. There could have been holes not cleaned out. The truck may never have left the body shop. The truck may not have made it to the body shop shop the first time. Plates/taxes are paid in advance and refundable for time not used. Your address wonโ€™t matter as much as your name picking it up. Your car is going to dry rot first then rust out? Seriously, you have 99 issues and their all made up.

Is it possible they were applying some body putty to the holes in the fuel tank?

I have a saying that I'm sure is attributed to someone else, but since I work with computers, as we all do, and I get into a rabbit hole, I say "Well there's an hour of my life I can't get back". I thought of that with your reply.

Not sure if I can help as I'm not qualified to talk anyone off a ledge. My only suggestion is for you to take a deep breath, and if you remember the old song by Doris Day, Que Sera Sera. or in other words think of the song from Frozen and Let It Go, Let It Go.

Sorry for the song references, but it is Thursday, and I'm not scheduled yet and I'm trying to dispelled my stresses.
