I wanted to get your thoughts about switching from Carbonized Gray to Rapid Red.

I ordered my 1st edition hybrid in early August in Carbonized Gray. Since then, I’ve considered switching to Rapid Red. I originally thought the Rapid Red would look cool, but it was a “late production” item and it was an extra $495. I still haven’t received a build date, which means I can still change the color without losing my place in line (if you want to call it that). Since a number of RapidRed 2.0s have been delivered, it appears it’s no longer a late production item. It’s still an extra $495 though. Nobody likes paying more money, but if it looks good, I guess I’m ok sucking up the fee. (And I’m not planning any major modifications once I get it other than adding BillieBars for bike trays.)

I think both the CG and RR look really, really good. Aesthetically, I’m 50-50, which doesn’t help matters. I know it’s ultimately a matter of which one I think looks best, but I’m curious which one you all thinks looks best.

I always value the community’s input, so I thought I might ask for your thoughts. What do you all think - should I switch my 1st Ed from Carbonized Gray to Rapid Red?

I want to say Cactus 🌵 Gray… 😥 given the options definitely Rapid Red. It would be very limited as it’s only a 2022 color.

The accent details may stand out better on the red. Both are great colors but since the RR is specific to the FE I would go with that.
Your call, hope you get a build date soon.

You sure about losing your place in line?
Yeah, the dealer told me I could change anything except the engine - 2.5 to 2.0 - before I get a build date. You know, I might call Ford Customer Service just to be sure. My dealer has been pretty reliable through the process, but it wouldn’t hurt to make sure. It’d definitely suck to be setback at this point.

I ordered Cactus Gray... then changed to Carbonized. But if I could have... I would have ordered the Rapid Red. In all honesty, I am not a fan of the hood graphics or the black roof. That combined with not being able to justify the price increase. But Rapid Red is a great color.

Go with what your heart desires. Rapid Red is one of the only colors where a raptor style decal would look good.

Rapid Red with a 2" rise, black wheels, big tires and raptor style graphics would look pretty damn bad ass... Dammit... now you have me second guessing my color choice. Really didn't need this today. Thanks A LOT @sseiler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grey always looks better longer between washes. Red will beg to be washed all the time.

I think the red looks great, but I went with carbonized grey since I think it compliments the lariat interior better. Thought the red would clash with the navy blues used in the plastics and seats. I also think the CG is more of a "classy," refined color if that makes any sense.

It is all personal, as the Carb Grey is a great look... it was my first choice, alas if I recall correctly, it was not available on the 1st Edition. I wanted something different, soooooo many 50++++ Shades of grey on the road today. Might be stated in regard to shades of Red as well, but this Rapid Red looked to be a winner!

That does make sense. I know exactly what you mean. Initially, I thought I wanted the classy look, but seeing all the Live Photos/videos, the rugged look is pretty cool too. I suppose the fence I’m standing on is between the rugged look similar to what springboks describes above and the more classy, refined look. Man, both would look awesome; I’m just not sure which look I prefer most. The uniqueness of the RR is kind of compelling though.
