Why would a wealthy person have any interest in buying a $25K bare-bones compact pickup truck?

The Slate was never HVAC-less.

And the battery is LFP. Nothing else. Part of they increased the range of the base range battery without charging extended range price.

Right. Because they said that was going to be on a truck that didn't exist at the time.
An engineer on a bender might have included a flux capacitor was standard. So what.
They can say anything, but it's all subject to change until it's actually produced.

The LFP battery was a recent change according to this MSN article, per this excerpt:

"When the startup revealed its starting price on Wednesday — $24,950 before destination, taxes, and other fees — it also said it had changed its battery strategy, eliminating the optional 240-mile pack but bumping the standard pack from 150 miles to 205.

Initially, the startup planned to use nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cells. The chemistry is widely used in the automotive industry and favored for its energy density, which translates into longer range. But NMC is also expensive, mostly due to high nickel and cobalt prices."

As far as comparative pricing goes, what's quoted is a bare bones vehicle without any options.
There are no fee quotes, so actual OTD prices may be considerably different.

When the vehicles actually show up, it will be interesting to see how it compares with other options, and competition will be coming.

The slate would have a real world max range of 119 miles if driven in Utah on 1-15 at the normal speed of traffic and don't even think about using the HVAC - Parleys canyon takes batteries at will if thinking about I/80 and Park/City- lol

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

The only battery option is LFP, not "other toxic EV battery" or whatever you said earlier.

United States had their chance to buy an electric grocery getter called a smart EQ it had a terrible range of 60 to 80 miles. Utter failure in the United States.

You are correct as of today.
As I noted, the LFP is a RECENT battery choice as opposed to the standard may catch fire batteries which also have cobalt and other toxic trace elements.

Yes! This is exactly what I had in mind. I bet I’ll see a lot of them in future years on the coast when we visit during the spring and summer.

They will replace LSVs for some affluent folks.

I'm sticking with my prediction that it will be a wildly popular first new car for younger people because of the price.
I doubt it will be of much interest to the affluent ($350k annual income) because they would rather drive something with more comforts, and they don't need to "save money" by buying something for $25k vs $50-75k as their daily driver.
"The masses" drive less than 35 miles a day, in Merkuh, so the Slate easily fits that range. The vast majority of the population lives in cities, so the few people that live in rural areas and drive 100+ miles a day don't weigh that much on the national average of daily driving; it's math and statistics.

Again, that doesn't mean I'm getting on the purchase list, just pointing out stuff as a third-party observer.

They aren’t saving money they are buying it as a toy to put at their beach house or give to their kids to mess around with. Especially the wrangler/bronco like configuration.
