Yes I did put down a deposit, but was told it was a fully refundable deposit. The dealership has fairly high rating of 4.8 on google so I am pretty sure they will honor what they said if it comes to it - also I have no problem walking out if the deal is not right, I'm in no rush to buy, I have an existing car that runs perfectly fine for now with just over 100k miles on it.
Again, I'd suggest a look at TrueCar - At least you'll have something to compare to.
If you do decide to buy, I hope you like it as much as I like mine, which is a lot!

Well I double asked to ensure the deposit was fully refundable in case I change my mind and they confirmed this. And yes reassurance is a big one, I wanted to make sure I'm not getting a bad deal, given that I have not had enough opportunity to do proper research on pricing prior to discussing with the dealer.

In terms of the mfr date, I believe I saw November (but not sure if that's 2024 or 2025) on the side door. I used gpt to try to pull some records and according to stock numbers it told me that it was delivered to the dealership in April 2026 and that based on the stock number it was likely from tail-end of 2025 production.

I would be quite sure it is November of 2025. On door as you stated or you can find it on the window sticker. I think you are looking at a fair price for a hybrid. You are still probably paying more because it is a hybrid but In 2026 the hybrid option costs $2200 on the XL and XLT models. I would be sure to check the paperwork on what the taxes are. Should not be 2K which I mentioned in response 16 of this thread. Tax is less and that should be reflected on the out the door price unless he tries to slip the difference in somewhere else. Good Luck!

As a follow-up and ahead of picking up the car I requested the full details of the price breakdown. This is what they provided, which is slightly different from what I remember seeing on paper, but similar:

MSRP 33,270
Sell price 29,205
"Aftermarkets" 299
Doc fee 498
"Total Fees" 457.50
Taxes 1,988
Total price 32,447 minus 1,000 Rebates

I asked to explain the "Aftermarkets" and "Total Fees" -- the Aftermarkets i was told is window etching that is included in every deal. I definitely dont recall seeing this fee. The Total fees of 457.50 was not itemized or explained to me.

Thank you - I did look at it and the deal seems fair, not much better than others, about in line with others I see on truecar -- I wish i knew about this site sooner, that makes the purchase so much better than dealing with dealers..

This spells out the details. I would still bargain over the etching which is nothing but a gimmick and the "total fees". I would start at zero on these and end up being a "good guy" and splitting the difference with the dealer at $375 less that what he wants.
I think it is an ok deal but I would print out the 2026 hybrid at granger ford that with NJ tax would go out the door for $31,825. But, hey, that's just me. Main thing is if you want the truck it is a pretty fair deal; if you want it, get it, drive it and enjoy it!!!!(y)

Thank you! i never heard of Granger, but am reading they seem to be a no nonsense dealer with volume pricing. Has anyone here ordered from them and had their car shipped? I'm really wondering now if that may be a better approach.

I believe you would find the price of shipping pretty high and you would probably exceed the cost of the one you are looking at locally. Just my thought...........

I saw a post that said Granger sells the car and recommends "Three Movers" for transport.
You can check them online and get an estimate.

However the bird nearby in the hand may be worth more than the one in the bush. If you are keeping the truck for a while, 2025 vs 2026 won't affect resale value a great amount.

If I am confusing you with options, you can always go back to square one and buy the Maverick tomorrow when you go to the dealer! You will very likely not regret it...........

no no i actually really appreciate the options you have opened up for me since they have AWD models and even with shipping it is looking like I may be able to get an AWD XL (i dont care about the fancy wheels or minor interior comforts) for only $700 more than my price, which to me is a worthy upgrade. I'm going to call them tomorrow first thing in the morning and get more details.

This is my opinion and worth exactly what you are paying for it. You can buy out of state and save some bucks. But if you need a recall or warranty work done the closest dealer MUST do it but on their schedule not yours. Meaning their customers will get scheduled ahead of you and don;t even think about a loaner vehicle unless Ford supplies it. Family member bought a Nissan Titan online out of state. He paid to have it delivered. When he tried to open the tailgate it would not open because the bed had been hit by something and was shoved into it. He went to the local Nissan dealer and said he wanted it fixed under warranty. They said he would have to go to the dealer he bought it from because Nissan refused to warranty it since it may have been done by the delivery company. Took over a year fighting with the original dealer then he had to drive it there, fly home, and waited 4 months for a new bed to be installed. Just my nickels worth ( no pennies anymore) but a vehicle isn't like a pair of sneakers you order online.

I think what you are saying was true in the "good old days" when the dealer you bought from was the dealer who serviced it. I am not sure that is true anymore. I have not had any dealer ask me where I bought the vehicle before they serviced it. The service department has now become the "moneymaker" at most dealerships, and their goal is to keep the work coming in and going out. My dime's worth, no nickels anymore in GA.🙂

You are correct service is the money maker. So your purchased elsewhere warranty job is tail end of the line for service. Their customers, if they are a local dealer, will be front of line to keep them coming back. Simple business treat your customers well so they continue to be customers. Now if you are paying for service they are MORE than happy to have your business. I go to the dealer I bought from which is 25 miles away versus the 1 that is 2 miles away or the 1 that is 8 miles away. Why? Their poor service is why I didn't consider buying from them, and I had bought from both of them in the past. As I said they can not refuse to do the warranty work but they don't have to bend over backwards for you. Example of getting service when you didn't buy from the company. Neighbor has a mini split heat pump he bought online, installed the hardware himself, paid someone under the table to making the electrical connection to avoid getting a permit, that quit working. He called several local companies to repair it. Most said they would install a new system with permits but not touch the current system since "they did not install" nor sell that brand. He finally found someone to repair it at $1300, again cash under the table for a system he paid under $1000 for online.
I provided service for 25 years on industrial machines. Plants that bought machinery NEW from the company always were scheduled ahead of those who bought used from brokers.

I agree with you.
Even in the old days people bought new cars and moved out of state.
You're telling me that you buy a new car in one state, move to another state and the dealership in the new state, is going to tell you that you have to take your car back to the old dealership where you bought it, for warranty work. That's a good one.
Sounds fiction to me or one off "What If" situation. A bit of fear mongering.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Scheduling service on a machine before those folks who did not buy the machine from your company is a totally different matter than REFUSING FACTORY WARRANTY work all together
