Hauling My CR500 Dirt Bike in the Maverick Bed – Perfect Setup

What's up guys,


Just wanted to share this setup been hauling my Honda CR500R with my Ford Maverick and honestly, it’s been a perfect combo. The truck handles it way better than I expected, and it’s super convenient for quick trips to the trails.

There’s just something about loading up a big two-stroke and heading out that never gets old


Anyone else using a Maverick or small truck for their bikes? Curious how you guys set yours up

Nice CR 500 what Year is it? And is the expansion chamber on the exhaust pipe on the other side of the bike I can't see it in the picture? I would imagine loading it in the Maverick is a lot easier than say a Ranger or full size truck which sits much higher than the Maverick.

Sweet combo but cannot see the CR.
I used my Mav to haul my Yamaha TW200 from time to time. When I sold my XR400 I delivered it to the buyer in the Mav as well. A lot of times it is easier to load and offload my trailer. No ramp needed ever the angle to the Mav is fairly low as well.

For hauling one bike this is the method I like. It's very stable and doesn't compress the front suspension as much.

This setup has some advantages over the top photo, IMHO. Keep that front wheel jammed into a corner, and the back tire as close to the outside of the gate as possible. I have seen a LOT of bent tail gates from loading up the middle. I just put together an Amazon 2" receiver carrier rated at 600 pounds to haul my 300 pound DR350SE home from Baja. Fingers crossed. I do understand that the original poster had two bikes to haul...

I do, but found a little trailer behind the Maverick saves so much time and convenience when unloading out in the boonies. Maverick pulls the trailer and 500# bike like it is not even there.

I loaded my Kaw in the back a couple times but went over unloading once (by myself in rain) and bought one of those rails that plugs in trailer receiver. Additionally, I bought HF magnetic trailer lights to use on the rail as the tires obscure the taillights. I also have a Tractor supply trailer with wheel chocks but mainly use that to take my GS back and forth to FL.

Thanks man, appreciate it it’s a 2024 Honda CR500R. The expansion chamber is on the normal side, just kinda hidden in the pic. And yeah, loading it into the Maverick is way easier than taller trucks no crazy lifting needed which is a huge plus

That’s actually a solid setup keeping the heavier KTM on a hitch carrier and tossing the TTR in the bed makes a lot of sense. Probably keeps the load balanced and way easier to manage overall.
