The question of sound settings comes up a lot and it occurred to me that the first question anyone should ask themselves is not about the truck at all. This is not a judgment of any person, or their preferences or what's "right".

Do you enjoy live music / do you go to concerts?

Why this question? Because live music is loud, and more often than not, fairly high quality sound.

If you don't enjoy concerts there's a good possibility that you don't have any interest in listening to music loud, and you might not appreciate high quality music reproduction. I literally mean appreciation; I understand most people can hear differences in audio, but some just don't care.

If you made it this far, my concern is when people suggest cranking the tone controls. A lot say that. And it might work ok at low volume levels but I'm sure it's not a good thing at high volume. In the context of the Maverick, let's call 'low' volume below 12. Let's say moderate is 13-18. A lot of people think 15 is loud! A factory B&O system can play to 30 with the tone controls set appropriately.

This video explains why you should not add tone controls like a "U":

What I have doing for years is set the volume to your typical driving level. Go to the tone controls and set the treble, midrange and bass to their lowest level. Play a favorite song, Next raise the bass level to you taste, next the midrange and lastly the treble. I usually tweak the midrange and treble in unison until I get the best sound I can get.

That's a reasonable approach as long as your taste doesn't end up with a massive amount of tone controls. Use 'em in moderation!

I completely forgot about this tread since there were no replies for several years, but I distinctly remember creating it because people were suggesting to crank the bass and treble tone controls. If your Maverick has B&O that system isn't that bad, but even though it lacks bass you can't just dial up +8 bass and call it job done. You need to replace the door speakers for good midbass, and then add a sub for good low end.

The stock 22-24 Maverick sound system is terrible, and the 25-up is better, but only because sync4 is so much better than Ford Connected Audio. The speakers all need to go.

I did exactly as you suggest for my '23 B&O, replaced the door speakers and dash tweeters and added a large subwoofer that now sits in a box on the back seat since I don't have passengers and a dedicated subwoofer amp under the seat. I left the stock subwoofer in place but disconnected. Sound great now.
