Hello, we are new to the site and have a 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid, since it shows to only tow a trailer with a dry weight of 2000lbs, does anyone have any suggestions on trailers you have that could be towed by the hybrid safely?

Aliner Ranger 10 has a nice low profile limits the wind resistant arguments and is easy to set up.
Easy to stand-up in, something you can't do with a teardrop.

I second the Aliner, easy to set up and you get the safety and privacy of a hardside without the wind resistance. There are many floor plans, and Forest river also makes them. Just dont forget to add the weight of all the stuff you will put in it.

^^^ Note the "FRONTAL AREA" consideration is just that.

A consideration.

If you consider and know there is a trade off between frontal area and top speed; you can tow more. More weight AND more frontal area is safe at slower speeds.

Also, 2,000 lbs is the limit "as factory equipped" without a trailer brake connection.

I added a 7-pin and high quality brake controller, and a few other things, and I tow 3,000 lbs safely with a 2022 Hybrid.
Mine stops on a dime. And with the high frontal area, no runaway on down grades. It's as if there is a built in aero brake!

Have to be committed to going 65 MPH or less with something like this. I am.

The front seats tilt back pretty far and a couple pillows and you’re damn near level if you find an incline to park on. I can stretch out at 5’10". Diesel heater piped through the rear sliding window for winter. Window vents or portable AC unit with solar generator for summer. Sun shields all around for privacy. When I’m done having fun fishing or riding roller coasters all day I sleep like a baby. Haven’t baked salmon on the engine while driving yet, it’s coming. Maybe one of our suppliers should consider designing a engine mounted oven.

I am in the same boat as you. I'd like to hear replies from people that actually own the 2.5 hybrid and have really towed a camper with it. If you have, what type of terrain and really, how much weight? There are quite a few on the web that seem ok to get but i'd like some real info please. Also, does it matter if i put the heavier items in the bed? ie...gas, generator, cooler , water etc... thank you

If your trailer has brakes and your truck has a properly set brake controller, and you have 10% to 15% of the trailer's gross weight on the tow hitch, no need to transfer weight to the pickup bed.

If you have like 20% or more weight on the hitch, moving some things to the bed may be helpful. Or move items rearward in the trailer.

If you start with 10% weight on the hitch, moving weight to the truck would be a disadvantage, maybe even dangerous at highway speeds.

More weight on the hitch (within reason) is generally better up to 400 pounds.

Thank you for the reply and the photo. I have trailered many different vehicles and trailers over the years and i know many were over the weight range so i was anticipating that i could tow more. I am familiar with brake controllers so that a great thing. I am curious about taking a trailer like the one you have up through the mountains. Have you done that? I understand slow and steady but how slow up the big hills. And also whats your milage, just curious on that one.

As an owner of an Aliner Classic camper, definitely check out their range. Great campers and we absolutely love ours. Forest River versions of A-Frames tend to be a lot heavier than Aliners (IIRC). I've towed our Classic with a 2.5i Outback for over 30k miles. Pulls like a dream and usually got 19-21 mpg going 67mph down the freeway. Haven't pulled it with the Mav yet, but I expect it to be as good or better in ease and efficiency.

With a brake controller added on; the Ranger 12 would be doable. That 2' of length over the 10 will be welcome. We're looking at going to an Expedition from our Classic now that I have the Mav and the Outback no longer is the tow vehicle.

Good luck!

16 MPG average at 62-63 MPH average.
Closer to 20 MPG at 55 MPH.

45 MPH on 6% hills.
40 MPH on 7% hills.
Can sustain that without HV battery helping.

Can usually pass semi's (slowly) on any hill.
I'd guess I had a 5 MPH advantage over most big trucks.
