Is your build date within the 10/24 to 5/25 window? Just curious.

A thimble of gas is an oil additive I would just as soon avoid, But my real concern is the faulty HP fuel pump. My oil cap & dipstick have a strong gas odor - the TSB specifically mentions this as a symptom the faulty pump.
I apologize for the snarky thimble statement. Let me put it this way. The Ford TSB will probably cost them a million or two in revenue and tarnish their reputation, yet they put it out there. The gas issue should be taken seriously.

That was snark? Oh please, I’ve done snarky much worse than that:)

Anyway, everything you said was true. I will say a thimble of gas smell is s “leading indicator” that will show up well before the dipstick shows a rise.

I did contact Blackstone for an oil test kit & will send in a sample after it arrives in a week or so. If my sample shows abnormal gas, I’ll contact Ford for the HP pump test.

Had the oil changed in my 3/11/25 build XLT. Did not have high mark on dip stick nor cranking problem. Decided smelling for gas on the oil cap was sort of a crap shoot. Lady that checked me in at the dealer had not seen the TSB but immediately ran the driver diagnostic codes and found nothing. Tech noted no fumes. Guess I will just smell the cap on the last day of each month; I drive about 1K/month. Oh yeah, will also check my dip stick at the end of the month.:sneaky: Actually I do this several times a month already!:)

My wife caught me sniffing my oil cap - she gave me a funny look and suggested that I get some help.
She might be jealous? If you do sniff your wife and smell normal EB scents - don’t tell her that but consider yourself a lucky man!

Excellent info - thanks!

I sent an email request to Blackstone for an oil sample test a couple weeks ago. Still not received but haven’t checked my mailbox this week.

If their tests reveal no gas dilution - l’ll skip going to my dealer. If their test does reveal abnormal %, I’ll have data to “force” the HP fuel pump test the TSB advises.

Will update either way.
Thanks again.
