Just take 5 minutes and go on Autotrader and look up Maverick trucks and see how many dealers have trucks listed there for way over the asking price. And when you see one with just an MSRP and not a buy price, most likely thats way over MSRP also as I have found out by calling a dealer on one only to find they were asking $7,000.00 over MSRP. Crazy!!!

I'm sure that Ford doesn't give a damn, but I'm about to forget Ford and BUY NOW a Honda cicvic. The civic gets good gas milage, lasts a longtime and you can have one now and not have to walk everywhere you go. I'm an old man and I've been wondering if I will receive the Maverick before I die, where the Civic is ready to go. Hell, if I need a pickup, I'll just go rent one from HomeDepot for the day....to hell with FORD. FORD......FIX OR REPAIR DAILY

Never said there aren't dealers with units they're selling with ADMs, I just said that the fraud you suggested is supposedly against Ford's rules. If you have evidence these units were acquired through these fraudulent means, please provide it.

Fraud?Didnt know this practice of ordering with a ficticious customer was illegal. I am only saying there are unscrupulous dealers out there that we as SMART consumers should not do business with!

Fine. Then tell us who they are so we can not do business with them. And please figure out how to use the forum.

I have to say I’ve disagreed with everything you’ve said before this, but I give you that we should be expecting better with the exorbitant destination charge, or another way of saying it is a portion of the destination charge is simply a money-grab. I understand delays, shortages, and unpredictable scheduling, but we shouldn’t be paying a premium for it.

You can order a BMW from LA, have it shipped from Wolfsburg Germany and still pay less in destination than we are.
I cannot speak to Germany. Before the Japanese plants were built in the US the government of Japan payed for a large portion of the shipping to keep costs down and gain market share. One can privately ship to Hawaii for about 1K +-.
So from Japan to here would be $$$. Yet the shipping cost on the invoice was less than Ford, GM or Chrysler.

Go ahead, I can guarantee you Ford doesn't care. The only one who cares is you.

Maybe so, but here's another way to look at it.

Maybe a smart dealer would think that people who are willing to pay significant ADM now might not be in the future when the wave has passed. So that dealer takes the bird in the hand instead of waiting for the (possibly smaller) bird in the bush. Or maybe the dealer just needs the money now instead of later.

It's hard to say what a smart dealer would do unless you have a good handle on their particular situation and priorities.
True. But given the rise of retail ordering, I think they would be smart cultivating loyalty. You do that by treating people well and fairly. Given the information out there, I’m likely to know if my dealer gets a canceled version of my order. Pretty much all the Mavericks are going through one sales person. If I found out he ADM it to someone else, without going to the list, well I won’t give him any future sales. Why should I? I’m fairly well to do and will be buying several more vehicles in my lifetime, and I hate haggling, MSRP is fine, if I get what I want. Those stories of brand loyal families? I could be one of them.

It doesn't make much sense to look at the destination charge and act as if that is the actual average cost of delivery for the total sum of all Mavericks in a given model year. It makes even less sense to then use that number by itself to argue that Ford should be shipping Mavericks out based on FIFO approach. A base Maverick costs $21,495, period. That is the number they calculated in order to get whatever profit they are seeking for this vehicle. Ford is using a $1,500 destination charge just so they can make the claim the car starts below 20k. If Ford used a lower destination charge the Maverick's base price would have gone up an equal amount.

All this discussion about dealer allocations makes you wonder if it is possible to not get your confirmed ordered Maverick (Hybrid or not) in the 2022 MY primarily due to dealer allocations. Say if you put your confirmed order in around early August from a small dealership that had around 7 to 10 orders and your number 8 that walked in. Add the fact that now its November and they still have not had one allocation on ordered vehicles yet. Is that possible?

My reference to FIFO was on the build not delivery.

Why build them if you're not going to deliver them? That's just reducing manufacturing capacity and adding stocking costs and reducing shipping efficiency.
