Has anyone upgraded the door and rear speakers with coaxial speakers and new tweeters in the dash? Im use to just swapping out the speakers in my older vehicles with coaxial ones and it sound better.

I dont know a lot about component speakers but it does make sense to put them in the front I just dont want to deal with the crossovers. Im not looking to win competitions I just want something better than the six speaker setup in my 25 xlt.

@Carlitos_92 did it as a birthday gift
Not exactly. I didn't do coaxial in the doors.

@Maverick85 Yes people have put coax speakers in the doors and rear, and also replaced the tweeters. Most if not all who have done it seem to like it.

Typically, you would not want tweeters that low in the doors pointing at your ankles, because the soundstage can be weird. Whether or not you would notice or care is debatable. The bottom line is having upgraded speakers is way more important than whether they are components or 2-way etc.

Personally, I did components up front, similar to the OEM, but I did have to mess with crossovers... I put them in the glovebox, and since I was doing an amp behind the glovebox and running new wires to the dash tweeters, it worked out fine.

Good morning! I have replaced the doors, dash tweeters, C pillars peakers and added a powered sub that I mounted behind the rear seat. Gave me a 110% improvement over the stock XLT system. Hers is what I used.
I have zero rattles, and sound that is a 150% improvement over the terrible speaker choice that Ford selected for the XL/XLT's. I first updated the front doors and dash tweeters. Easy to do, if you are leery just watch the video's online. The 4" rears are virtually useless, I updated those and was shocked how vocals were so much clearer. Now there are dozens of opinions, so read them all then act. Crutchfield is a great choice for our trucks. I used a Powerbass system for the fronts, these are a direct OE engineered bolt in. I went with Kicker DSC40's for the C pillar replacements, then added a powered sub behind the rear seat. All in was around $380 for parts. Absolutely love the sound, enough bass to send rumbles through the doors and even my rear-view mirrors!! Sorry negative nellies, ZERO rattles!!! I did add sound deadening in my front doors, the regulator module and the inner sheet metal. Also added some behind my sub. There are many components speakers available that have inline crossovers included. I have the Hertz K170's components and they sound great without spending alot.

I would recommend adding a sub if you can. I recommend crutchfield as they have so many offerings and include your speaker harness connectors so you don't have to cut or splice your oem wiring or purchase them separately like most audio shops.
