Interesting.... I wonder how old the wife's are that do drive the Maverick versus the wifes that will not drive the Maverick....
I think the older broads -sorry -women, are less fearful. My girlfriend is 62 and has no problem driving it. I think it’s because they were raised on bigger cars.

No,not just the big car thing. I believe it’s also because people over fifty can think and drive at the same time. Not so with the young’uns.

The last time I drove my truck was May 24th at 2:45pm (give or take 2 minutes - I have battery monitor) because of the stroke I suffered the next morning. Since then, my Maverick has been stored in the garage. My wife does not want to drive it. She is afraid of damaging it (even when she is parking in the garage next to it in her own car). I still hold out hope I will get my sight back enough to allow me to drive again but I have mentioned to her if I cannot drive again, she should really take the Maverick. She tends to bump stationary things like posts and curbs, but I have tried to let her know it would not matter I would let go and accept it for what it is. The frustrating thing is she used to drive a modified Chevy Silverado when I met her. Since I am still in the wait and see part of my recovery, I have tabled the discussion. If it ever does happen, I will have to reteach her how to drive because she will suck all of the savings out of owning a hybrid with her driving style!

My husband drives a yacht size electric BMW with more programs than you can imagine. You'll never find me behind the wheel. He only drives the Mav or the Mazda to the gas station when we need to cash in on points.

Best wishes in your recovery. Hopefully you will get back on the road.

I like the fact that my wife knows how to drive the truck but does not. She is not a graduate of, what I call, 'strategic parking'.
For instance;
Do not pick a parking spot that has cars on both sides rather than than opting for the open end spot. . . and then crowd the truck as far away from the 'door bangers'' as possible.
Do not 'go until you hit something' when parking into a curb (perpendicular parking).

Having my wife drive the Maverick would be a waste of the hybrid system. The gas mileage advantage would be mute with her style of driving.

Unless you don't have a second vehicle, maybe count your blessings. . .
loosen the gas cap, when it gives he a CEL, take it to a shop for a week, I bet she'll drive your Maverick.

Mine picked first and got the Escape :LOL: She has driven my Maverick says it's okay and will drive it as required but prefers the Escape. IDK if she is trying to lull me into a false sense of security though, she likes the color better on mine.

My wife prefers her Expedition. But she will drive the Maverick in a pinch.
