Yes, my lights came with glass bulbs. I had to replace them with 7440/7443 LED's. You probably are trying the wrong LED's. Look at the difference between 3157 and 7440; the physical difference is noticeable.

I have not tried the LED bulbs yet. I tried using one of my bulbs from the factory tail lights and it would not push in far enough. Like I said in my first post the aftermarket bulbs have no plastic base. Just glass with the wires folded against the glass. they are much thinner. That is why I asked if the bulbs in your aftermarket tail lights had a plastic base or just glass.

yep, that will work.
I did notice that the right side third brake light seems to be out. "If" that's the case u might give it a look see....
