Toyota and Subaru are going to make a Rav4 based truck,
AFAIK the Rav4 part was speculation as "most sense" when it was all Toyota, with Subaru taking it on, it might be more on the Forester platform. Though their platforms don't seem friendly for housing batteries so might need a rejig.

The reports say Toyota TNGA platform, just depends on the wheel base they want. They have the potential to beat Ford to the punch to with the eTNGA too but Toyota seems cautious about anything that might draw from Tacoma sales.

I hope so. When their CEO talks about how they want to create vehicles that delight owners in every way that matters, including design, a sante Cruz design wouldn't delight me, it would be an automotive shoulder shrug. But something that looked more like a muscle car with a bed just with a higher ride height, that would be a solid hell yeah from me.

I'll be honest, I don't like the front end of this Toyota truck from a few years ago, but I kinda like the side view proportions. Even something with these proportions I could get behind.

Mustang,
There can be only one !

FORD, stop letting the younguns put the proud Mustang name on everything. Make them come up with something new.
Or use ‘Pinto’
:’P

The Mustang broke the seven minute lap time at the Nürburgring.
That name still means something to us old timers.
Do Not Dishonor it !
Take it off that EV car, PLEASE !
the Mustang 2 was bad enough-we called it the Mustang too" horrible little attempt, the sick ass little 4 cyl would hit almost 7 grand in a minute or two, yech.

I'm seeing tons of Maverick work trucks, fleets, city/county vehicles using Mavericks now.

usually white
because they were perceived as low cost( until the dealers got greedy) and the fleet owners snapped them up a poor person couldn't afford one,our local phone company had one he tried to take off road, the results were disastrous. dumb ass me I paid 4000to 5k over MSRP 20K for a used AWD Maverick with over 20 k miles on it ( hated the color bought it anyway-the white one next to it was already sold) initially the salesman said it had a hitch on it( it didn't cost me over 500$ to get one installed, the manager stepped up and offered their local installer low end price of around $600,I traded a 300K real pickup on this 200K mile thingy wish someone would have kicked my ass,you cannot actually leave the tarmac in this truck drags on the slightest thing have already had 4 times the recalls on this truck that I had on my frontier and D2 1s,the only saving grace it gets very good gas mileage and would out accelerate old muscle cars,my last beef with it is you cant really install a brush guard on it already had a deer collision the stinkin deer come out of nowhere I glanced in the rearview and a brown blur appeared at the front of my truck didn't do much damage considering,it literally knocked the shit out of the deer, their was feces all across the front of the truck, fortunately didn't damage intercooler or condenser, the EV I am watching is a"Telo",Mr Farley is almost as bad as Elon.
The issue is the sante Cruz is a halfway point, that's why it doesn't work. If Hyundai had committed to making it look more like a blocky truck, or if they had owned the non truck look, it would have been better than what they actually did.
the Santa Cruz was in the works for a long time I was really interested when the initial offering was to have a 2 liter diesel offering, but as the case with Chevys new Camaro they waited too long.

IDK, not a huge fan of the super cab forward look and it wouldn't pass modern safety standards.
a furniture company in Staunton had a couple of "Greenbriers" forever, don't be to sure when the 600# people crusher engine is removed there is a whole lot more room for "crush" zones'

people bad mouth the Mustang II but if Ford had not built it the Mustang would have gone away like the Chevelle, GTO, Torino, 442, Challenger etc. I like to think of the Mustang II as a summer fling. It was a fun little thing for a short time then maturity kicked in again. The cars of the 70s all were pretty 🤮. I mean compare the Mustang II to a Pacer or Gremlin or Dodge Aspen.
Hot rodders love Mustang II front suspensions.

Pacer X 304 v8 was pretty badass back in the day, those cars were so light that smog v8 would send them down the road.

NASCAR used to use late 50s Ford SLA suspensions, now for old truck rebuilds "Crown Vic" front end suspensions were the thing.

A Pacer needed to be fast to outrun it's ugly. According to wikipedia the Pacer X weighed 3190, pretty heavy for a compact. The Gremlin though was really light for a V8, around 2600. I knew a guy who had 1 back then and it would fly. I always like the look of the Gremlin, not so much the Pacer.
I stand corrected I meant a Gremlin, the only example I know of around here is an ratty Pacer.
