Sorry if this has been asked before but I was unable to find a solid answer. I am trying to see what tonneau covers can be used with the topper as I am trying to pick out a tonneau cover right now and being able to use it down the road with the flated topper is pretty important to me. Right now these are the two covers I am considering
https://www.ford.com/product/sport-...by-realtruck-advantage-for-45-bed-p2999459792 Got the 15% off sale and the ford pass points.
Or

My first question would be can either of these be used with the topper and if so which one would be best? From my rough understanding you need to remove the tonneau cover before installing the topper but I am unsure on a few things here. One being is this needed or for either of these if they are folded out of the way can the topper be used? Two which of these two are the easiest to remove I think the hard folding should be but I am not sure. Lastly will the rails or tracks for either of these get in the way of the topper? Also any general thoughts on the two covers linked are welcomed.

On their webiste it says it can work with some. In terms of why I would use the tonneau for daily stuff and then the topper for road trips and camping and moving and other large loads.

I would think the retractable tonneau cover would be more likely to work without removal as long as you don't need to attach near the front of the bed.

I have the Leer HF650M and really like it. It can be removed with 2 thumb nuts leaving the rails in place. It is 4 folds/5 panels so uses smaller panels and doesn't block the 3rd brake light when in the upright/fully open position. It also works with the Elevate TS rails. If you are into modifying I'd go with the longer ones made for the Gladiator, just taper the front to fit and round them near the tailgate. Now I say "just" but I didn't actually do the work as another forum member did it and then went a different direction and I bought them from him.

If they don't list the ones it works with it means "we didn't try it with any but assume it will". I purchased a USA made tri-fold that didn't fit the Maverick well enough to actually seal. After many emails and phone calls I was finally told they made them based on technical measurements but never tested them on a Maverick.
I saw Flated when they were on Shark Tank and looked at them when I bought my Maverick. I didn't like the price and it didn't address my needs for a secure bed. I watched how it installs and based on using the built in anchor points and the same rail on the bed to attach the Flated my opinion, and it is worth exactly what you paid for it, an old fashioned on top of the rail tri-fold would work but cover 1/3 of the bed but they are easy to remove. A retractable will interfere with anchoring the Flated at the cab. Some flip up hard might work depending on the rail design. I don't think my Rough Country would work with the Flated. I would ask Flated for specific tonneaus they know will work.
I will reach out to flated and see if they have any recs.

I looked at the fas top and it is looks pretty cool but the bed space it takes up in an already not massvie bed seems like a big down side. Also the set up time seems to be a lot longer then the flated. It is also a soft tonneau which is fine but I would prefer a hard tonneau. Should have mentioned that my bad. Overall I think this system works if you are changing between a tonneau and topper a lot but I only need it every once and a while so the compact storage of the flated seems to be the best option hence me looking for a tonneau hopefully hard tri fold that will work with it.

Yeah, I would have preferred a hard tonneau too. You can get the fas-top without a tonneau and add one separately, but I didn't go that route since I've never had anyone break into a soft tonneau and the integration of the tonneau and top was a selling point. Ideally, I would like to see something like the Razor top with a hard roll up roof. But it's hard to totally water proof those roll up tops, and the result would be very pricey.
It really doesn't take up much room but if you need every square foot that's certainly a consideration. You can easily remove it in a few minutes but storing would take up more space than the inflatable.
Raising and lowering only takes a few minutes for a single person, maybe 5, at most ten. I have been really happy with mine and have used it for several cross country trips and every other weekend on trips to my cottage. But I totally appreciate your perspective. That's why manufacturers make us different options.

Honestly you make some pretty good points and I am now considering the fas top again. Are there downsides or problems other then it being a soft cover that you have run into? Like how is the rain protection?

and lastly just so I can weigh out all my options would you happen to know of any hard covers that will work with the fas top?

I believe Flated states it doesn't work with a tonneau. Not sure why you want both but that's your decision. A regular tri-fold that sits on top of the rails would be a good bet. No rails and easy to remove. Cheap ones on ebay and amazon.
Their so many covers on amazon I spent hours going through all of them I gave up, I think there all made by the same company, I wasn't going to spend 1100 bucks for ford cover, I spent 450 for the ford soft tri cover with the logo on it on my first Maverick it was fine but wanted a hard cover on my new maverick, I paid about 400 took 20 min to install sealed up the seams on the truck trim were the leaks come from and its fine, looks great, came overnight and saved 700 bucks and have a hard cover you could stand on with no leaks.

Sorry, decided that I needed to take some pictures and it took a while to get to that. I was not familiar with trifold hard tonneaus, so I looked a few up. It appears that they add a rail on the top inside of the bed to sit on. That would interfere with rail used by fas-top. The first picture is an almost end view of the bed with fas-top tail mounted, so you can see the slanted side that has the Velcro and the capture mechanism for the piece that locks the back of the top to the rear bed/tailgate area. I left a query at the Fas-Top web site to see if they were aware of any hard trifolds that would work. Haven't heard back yet. I'll add another reply if I hear back from them.

The next three photos are an attempt to show how much need space you lose with the top stored in the down position. It's more that I thought. The top is about a foot deep with an area about a foot high above it. That foot deep compresses a bit because it's partly canvass, but still, it is there.

The last photo is a true end view of the Fas-Top rail mounted in the bed for further reference.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the info it is very helpful. Now comes the hard part of choosing which path I want to take. I love how many aftermarket items there are for the maverick but man sometimes it makes choosing hard.
