Wow! You did a nice job.So last week, I decided to pull the factory B pillar vinyl wrap. I didn’t like the matte black as I have a totally murdered out Maverick. I have side-by-side pictures.
After pulling the vinyl wrap off, it was atrocious orange peel that really stood out. Before I had my truck ceramic coated I did take out more than 50% of the orange peel and in some spots 100.
But for the pillars, this was my process. I use a hot air gun and the vinyl wrap just peeled right off after that. If you happen to have a thickness gauge, it really helps as you’re starting point. The average thickness of mine was 127 µm. I used a denim pad with heavy cutting compound as pictured. I used a porter cable dual action polisher for this job. After roughly about 10-20 minutes, each side going very lightly with my passes trying not to build heat. I took roughly 12-15 µm give or take. Which actually took out about 97% of all the orange peel which I was totally happy with. After that, I use a chemical guy polishing compound with an orange pad. I polished it up real nice and then finished it off with some mothers wax that I had laying around. after that, I used a chemical guy polishing compound with an orange pad. So clean and like the polish. Always a great finish on dark colors. Like the write for those to follow. So last week, I decided to pull the factory B pillar vinyl wrap. I didn’t like the matte black as I have a totally murdered out Maverick. I have side-by-side pictures.

I want to see a white one donethat looks great and I don't even usually like high gloss black
You can't paint the rubber window gasketsI’m trying to do away with all the Matt black. In the spring , I’m going to price a quote on black trim to get sanded and painted.
As of now, probably not. But I did get the rear window strip tooYou can't paint the rubber window gasketsI meant you should add a 6 1/4" x 5/8" strip to go between the front and rear window gaskets (at the very top) to visually tie them together ... without that it looks weird IMO ... but it's your truck so it's your call.
I'll do my CG as soon as I can find some gloss black wrap
I think it took me 2 hours from walking out my house to walking back in. I probably all but 15 each side really. It was setting up and cleaning up that ate most of the time. If you do, make sure you use that polishing compound. Because if you are too rough, the denim will leave marks. You’ll know if you are pressing to hard if it starts getting hot. I believe I reapplied the ultra cut 5-6 times.Damn that looks good!
I have a black Mav. I also have a Porter Cable orbital and most of the compounds/pads that you used but sadly I’ve yet to find the time or energy to detail the truck let alone concentrate on the pillars. That’s what happens when you get old.
Great job and it looks fantastic.
What is this sorcery?! Isn't that strip plastic? As of now, probably not. But I did get the rear window strip too

That’s what I thought. Nope, painted whatever color your truck is. They are all like that. What is this sorcery?! Isn't that strip plastic?
What color is under the vinyl wrap? If it’s cactus grey, it would look great. It looks great on a black Mav, but I think it would look odd on my Cactus Gray Mav.
someone else’s lobo from a fb Page. They are the same color as whatever your truck is. So the answer is yesWhat color is under the vinyl wrap? If it’s cactus grey, it would look great.
