He's a car salesmen. The rule is to get you into the dealership, show you something you want, then "set the hook" and start reeling you in. That's exactly what he did. "NO he's not your friend!

I kept chastising him for using all of the bullshit salesman "buzz words" one me. I told him to knock it off, that I wasn't some 17 year old high school student getting his first new car from daddy.

So when a car's "base price" is advertised at, say, $27,900, that's BEFORE the crap that's added, bringing the price to $29,900 on the sticker?

Was the $29500 your out the door price? If so then you got a deal on taxes, dealer prep, documentation, etc. The XL at $28,145 plus the destination fee alone would put the truck at about $29500. Now if that was just the price of the truck, before taxes and everything else, then it was truly just at sticker price.

The sticker said $29,500 or $29,900 (I have to check) with all fees, etc. I traded in my 2020 Dodge Ram plus $6,000 cash down and I was out the door. Total, 29,900 or $29,500. I hafta check.

There's actually not a huge markup from dealer invoice to msrp on the Maverick. Yes, the 2024 left-overs are going at a discount, as they may have been 'stuck' with them when the 'hold' for the camera hit as the 25s were showing up on the lots. I haven't seen huge discounts on 25 models. For reference my '23 Lariat Hybrid w/Lux/CP360/CP-Assist/Remote-Start via Key (all but a sunroof) with a sticker of roughly $34,800 including destination, and a A/D-Plan discount of maybe $1800 give or take. (A/D is the lowest pricing they offer, and below dealer invoice). I was fortunately to also have the private-offer from the 22 to 23 rollover of I believe $2850, having ordered in '21 as a 22 model year.

Now some dealers will advertise a lower price, that includes discounts such as $500 College Grad, $500 Farmers, $500 Military, and so forth. It's not possible to qualify for all of the discounts, and that advertising is somewhat deceptive until you read all the small print. Point is, some of those advertised prices aren't actually the selling prices in reality.

Hey, but at least it isn't 2022-2023 when dealers were adding $2,000-$5,000 above sticker, and in some cases even more for the more desirable models. (Hybrid or Tremor at the time).

I was offered no military discount. It was "mentioned" and I was to "bring it up" but nothing came of it. Another trigger trick.

If that was the absolute total you paid for the Maverick, out the door, then yeah it sounds like you got a little deal on taxes and doc fees and such. Depends on the dealer, but in some cases those items (except the sales tax which alone on a Mav at this price is around $1800) can add several hundred more dollars to the total cost.

For example, this Mav at $29500 (includes destination, give or take a couple hundred) with taxes then dealer prep stuff added on would come out to around $31500 or so out the door, with no discounts, incentives, etc. So if your out the door total was anything less than $31500, then I'd say you got a little bit of a deal!

So, I guess I could say the dealer gave me $23,500 (or $23,900) for my 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab and I added 6K cash to that. Oh, and I had to listen to the usual salesman lament: "I did not make any money off of this sale! You got a DEAL!"

Little is better than none! Thanks. I believe the dark, bold bottom line sticker price total was $29, 900 (or $29,500). But just to clarify: The sticker did NOT say $31,500. It said $29,500. You are confirming if THAT was the price on the sticker, the total would've been $31,500 with those extra fees?
