Black Door Edge Guard on a Maverick with a Black Appearance Package

I installed a Black Door Edge Guard on the my doors.

Can you see the trim in this picture?

I am also am thinking of using the trim on the rear of the hood. What do you think?

i think it's your vehicle, do whatever you want to it. besides, if you don't like it, you can just take it off.

Personally, I won't use unless to cover chips and dings. Too much experience in past with older style that left damage marks of its own when removed. This might be mitigated with current styles or using silicone under the strips. Should be people here who have more recent experience. I would just be more careful until I needed to "hide" something. Looks good though.

I personally don't like the type of door edge that slips over the door skin. Over time it will leave a mark where it was applied. You can get the clear thin tape kind that most of the newer cars come with, on Ebay for around $7.00 a roll. (enough for 6 doors) easy to install. On the other hand, the black edge protectant you installed on a Blue Truck, is "KILLER" and looks great.

I did the same on my Cyber Orange ‘23. I think it looks great as well as being practical. You did a great job!

The black trim is held on by a metal clip inside the rubber. There is no glue used to install. In fact I used alcohol wipes to clean before installing. I did not want to wait until I had parking lot dings to cover.

I have used this before on edges of fiberglass panels.

I think it looks good.

I noticed you went higher on the back door than I did. I used this seam as a stopping point.

The problems I've seen are the result of dirt and other road sediment being driven (by wind, rain, and just driving) under the leading edges. Vibration and time assault any finish covered by the guard, salt residue can be trapped here as well. YMMV. I lived in the Northern part of the CONUS during my experience.

I've had this same door trim on my 24 Lariat BAP for over a year. It's held up pretty well and have had no issues so far.

Exact same product, just different brand name on Amazon (Winunite). I especially like the metal tabs on the inside that hep it maintain its shape and strength to the door.
