I do a lot of research and reading of reviews when I make large purchases, and found this forum back in February when looking at a potential Maverick purchase. Wanted to post my review and pay it forward to others who are as anal as I am.
The pre-purchase
I have been watching Mavericks for years -- really like the concept of a hybrid small truck. In February I noticed that the 2024 models were in recall mode due to the backup camera issue and dealerships couldn't sell them. Originally thought that I would buy the '24 and enjoy some discount pricing since dealership also had the '25s in stock. Then, the camera issue was resolved about the same time as the tariff news hit. When Ford came out with their employee pricing, I threw open the search to both '24s and '25s. Liked that I could get a '24 for a little less (not much less) but really wanted the larger (and more dependable?) screen on the '25s. Also wanted the XL -- plenty of amenities for a guy who's never bought new or especially nice.
Being in Eastern Iowa there were very few available, so expanded my search to a 300-mile radius. Very interesting to interact with a bunch of Ford dealerships and how they respond to potential buyers. Ended up at a local dealership that brought a car in from out of state after we agreed on a price.
The purchase
2025 XL hybrid in blue (green was first choice but hard to find). Dealer had already added bedliner and the souped-up infotainment center. Otherwise, all standard features. Out the door price of $27,112. First impressions -- awesome! Just what I had hoped for. Driving off the lot my expectations were exceeded.
At 1,000 miles
Began to experience two rattles. The dash above the steering wheel, which has been noted on this site. How annoying. The second is somewhere in the undercarriage. When the vehicle hits a certain RPM (not sure exactly what range without a tachometer) I get the buzz below -- doesn't matter if I'm accelerating, braking, or coasting. Typically between 28-36 MPH. What I think is happening is that when the RPM produces a certain frequency, the buzz begins. Performance does not seem to be affected in the least. Otherwise, all is great. Averaging about 41 MPG overall and 44 around town.
At 2,000 miles
Got the recall notice from Ford about the passenger side airbag. Will take it in for the fix in August when summer slows down a little. MPG hasn't changed and neither have the rattles. Going to have those looked at when I take care of the recall. Ordered a soft roll up cover from Rough Country. I'd rate that purchase a C+. It would be an A if the cover were just an inch longer -- you have to settle for a small space at the front of the back of the bed because its a little short. Also got the floomats from Ford with my app installation. Ended up being $30 or so, which was a great value.
At 3,300 miles (today)
Except for the rattles and the recall, very happy with my purchase. Everything appears to work as it should. Gas mileage is great. Audio sounds perfectly acceptable for the base level speakers. Road noise acceptable. Longest trip has been 250 miles of highway/interstate driving. Very comfortable, plenty of power, a joy to drive. Have not yet changed the oil (just waiting for the truck to tell me when its ready) or done any other maintenance. If I have any minor complaints in addition to the rattles, it would be these:
I have always been concerned about buying a Ford, and specifically the Maverick, because of quality issues. When people ask me how I'm liking the truck, I say, "Great, ask me again in five years." And I mean it. Crossed fingers that I don't regret my purchase down the road. But for now, assuming the rattles can be mitigated (or just ignored) I'm happy to be a brand new Maverick owner.

- The infotainment center fan control is the farthest reach away. Would like it to be closer. Would really like it to be a nob on the dash.
- The exterior black plastic is so prevalent (I'm sure this keeps costs down). Also, its been almost impossible to get wax off the plastic. Tried all the internet search suggestions and haven't found what works.
