Has anyone here tried this console safe in their Maverick?

I have one very similar that I got from AliExpress. No, it can not be lifted out as it is an odd trapazoid shape.

There is a problem though. I didn't think about it when I put mine in. That rectangle at the bottom of the console has a purpose. With the vault it is now covered.

There needs to be an open hole at the bottom of the vault to make that rectangle accessible. None of them has that cutout. Even the one Ford sales lacks it.

You may never need to access that rectangle at the bottom of the console, but if you need it, the vault is going to make it very hard to get to.

As I recall, it is for duplicating the key, and more importantly, starting the car if the battery in the keyfob is dead.

As a firearms instructor this may interest your intended use. "Federal law allows for the transportation of unloaded firearms in a vehicle, including the use of a center console safe, as long as it meets certain conditions. Specifically, the firearm must be unloaded, and the center console safe must be locked and inaccessible. This means it should be stored in a way that it cannot be easily accessed by the driver or passengers. "

I think this is differnt in Fl. It can be loaded as long as it is some sort of container. Doesnt even need to be locked. If you don't have a carry permit then it cannot be loaded.

That's hard to define but Federal law trumps, pardon the pun, state law. If you drive through the Post Office parking lot to drop a letter in the drivethru lane without getting out of your vechile it's still a violation of federal law. Local cops may not be inclined to enforce but why take a chance.

decades ago, wandering through a warehouse club, on impulse I picked up a safe from the display and added it to my cart

It took a minute for the double take when I realized how worthless that made the safe . . .

Florida resident here, I was stopped several years back while driving my Ford F-150 in a very nice part of town. Cop asked for my license and registration and I told them that I can't get my registration because I had a firearm in my glovebox. They then asked to see my carry permit and I obliged, they ran my license through and they didn't ask to see my registration after that. No issues and they let me continue on my drive home. It's just different over here. They also got rid of carry conceal permits as well, but I'll still keep mine.

I have the center console and the rear under seat safe. Both Ford parts but was able to search and found a lot cheaper than from dealer. Good quality and fit well

Console Vault is the only one I have bought, 2 with one more in the near future. Ford thought they were good enough.

I have had the opportunity to try two different console safes. Once installed, neither can be simply lifted out of the console. The side pieces are trapezoid shaped which wedges the safe into the console once assembled. The primary difference was the height of the safes. The taller of the two offered more internal storage space. The other, although shorter, permitted me to still use the top compartment of my console organizer, hiding the safe from direct view when the console lid is open. I continue to use the shorter one.
