So i notice there was white mold under my floor mat on the passenger side. Then of course called ford and made an appointment and fee of $ 250.00 !
so I was told the cowl is leaking because the seal between the body and dash/ air filter is is not properly installed.
Once I got home and remove the plastic piece that cover the other plastic piece to the air filter I notice that the cover was not even sitting in the slot and it because of that seal which we can't fix unless you remove the whole inside dash board ... . well i asked ask around Facebook and other maverick owners are having the same issue. So I went and bought some clear adhesive sealant i put that on the inside edge of the cowls where there was gap I felt with my finger there was a gap where the seal is and also all round the cover this cover should not be loose. Once I did this that cover will not be moving anytime soon or unless ford does the recall to fix all of it.
I will show you some photo not the best at it but might help anyone else
Please make sure everyone is calling or email ford and the recall website https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

You have a 25 with no warranty??? Did a Ford dealership rip your dash apart or you? You talk about air filter, are you referring to cabin air filter?

Not seeing where 25MY is mentioned.

In 1st picture - the cabin air filter is on the other side of that rectangular hole, hence a leak into the cabin.

Sorry I forgot to say mine is 2022
No warranty
Used has 68,000
Yes the air filter
No, I didn’t take my dash apart. It was just a photo of a reference of what they have to do to replace that seal.

My understanding is that you just bought this used car?

When a car is sold by a private seller and a problem is discovered after the sale, the seller’s liability for repairs depends heavily on whether the seller knew about the problem and intentionally concealed it.

So my question is, if the seller took it to a dealership and got a $5,000 quote to fix it, but then decided to sell it at a discount and not disclose the defect, is there any way that the damage assessment would still be in Ford’s IT system? If so, the seller could be financially responsible for the repairs.

My 2023 had same problem but I noticed mine leaking at around 9k miles. Ford had to fix under warranty. If you search for my previous thread, the flashing or trim is installed from the factory incorrectly on mine and probably a lot of others. It would leak through the cabin air box and filter into the passenger compartment under the floormats. They did not have to take the dash out to fix. Mine was so moldy, the whole carpet had to be replaced. Biohazard for sure. I had to drive for nearly 2 weeks with windows down before could get fixed too. Since fixed, no problems. I still monitor for leaks, at 8k more miles later.

" In automotive terms, a cowl refers to the panel or area of the vehicle body located at the base of the windshield, between the hood and the windshield, often encompassing the area where windshield wipers are mounted. It's a key component that supports the windshield and dashboard, while also protecting the area from elements. "
