New to the club and need advice on tonneau

Hello, I'm a new '24 Maverick XLT owner. I am so glad that this forum exists and I have learned a lot from reading the threads in this group. I know there are numerous threads on tonneau covers and all the info is a bit overwhelming for me. I've narrowed down to about 3 hard covers. My local dealer has an Undercover Select in stock for $849, same price as real truck. I'm also considering the Gator EFX for $650 or the Rough Country for $800. All of these are hard tri-fold. Is the Undercover Select that I can buy locally worth $200 more than the Gator EFX? Thanks in advance for opinions and relevant info.
I've also seen a few threads about discounts through Real truck, but I have not really seen a specific person to contact?

I have undercover armor tonneau ($900 realtruck) for about 3 years . secure and satisfied with it so far . Like that it does touch cab when all 3 sections open . wife finds sections heavy to lift but not a problem for me yet . did previous post on install tips awhile ago .

Depends on your usage. For example, I don't open the trifold much, nor do i haul large items that require the top being open often, also I'm trying my best to keep this a low budget vehicle. I went with the RC low profile, luckily I found one for $400 brand new, and it works well for me.
I've seen a lot on Facebook Market place some as low as $300. Good luck on your search.

I've got the rough Country, and I like it just fine.
Just after I bought it, someone posted about the Leer Quad-fold being just over $600 on Amazon.
I took a look and saw there were 2 available, but I was on vacation and thought I'd research it further when I got home the next day.
Of course by that time they were gone at that price and I'm not going to pay double that.

I have a Gator but don't remember an EFX attached to the name. It was about $800 and appeared to be the exact same as the Ford offered Tri-fold at over a thousand. I don't use my bed as often as I would have if I were younger, but I have had to remove it only once since installing and it took less than 5 minutes. Mine came with heavy foam bumpers that let the 3 folds rest against the back glass and the rods that the FX truck has holding the top vertically to keep it from vibrating from the wind as you drive. I don't think any of the soft, bi or tri folds are completely water proof but with mine I sometimes get a little in the front if the drain hoses get more water than it can handle but the very back where the tailgate closes to the bed seems to leak a fair amount always. That being said I have driven through heavy thunderstorms with my P.A. equipment in the bed with no issues, I just dont use the last couple of inches near the bed edges. After 2 years the paint on the top side has taken a beating from our high desert sun, but all the rubber, so far, remains pliable and strongly attached to the aluminum frame. I like the cable pulls for the release of each section rather than the manual slides, so it is easy to open from either side. Enjoy your new Maverick and welcome to the group.

Not a real concern to me . I have a modified ford ranger (Craigslist $25) (measured and cut with jigsaw)dibl that I cut to fit so any water intrusion runs down the side of bed and out drainage holes . When traveling I use enclosed plastic containers to protect anything important . never checked for water leakage . first pic shows ford logo against back of bed . mostly use tonneau for security when running errands and to grocery store ( first pic with cooler and 2x4 in slots ) to keep cooler and additional groceries from sliding in bed . Tonneau works well for me . Hope information helps you and other members .

I got the hard tri-fold from Ford when I ordered my truck. I thought about the I e from Rough Country, but knew I would be on my knees during the install, something I avoid when possible. I get a little water on both sides where it meets the tailgate. I have folded it up a few times and tightened the arms to hold it against the back glass. It is easy to use.

I went with a BAK X4s, a hard roll up. It looks sharp. Still not entirely on board—security is a concern, more than weatherproofing. I started a thread about adjusting the fit if you go this route.

Consider a hard rollup. They are just as secure (if not more since there are more places for the clamps that close down along the side rails to hold the cover down) as fold-up covers.

They don't block the entire rear window when open and are easier to open with one hand.

I like the roll up but its the price that stopped me, definitely a great solution though if it fits budget.

I just finished installing the Rough Country flip up. It is so much better made than the Worksport AL3 I returned. The quality of the seals was miles ahead of WS.

Looks good and glad you like it better than your previous one you had to return. So is that the low profile version you have? I'm still looking into tonneau covers but not sure I want to drop $800 plus I still need to get a spray in bed liner.

The REV hard rollup is available through Ford Accessories which often has discount codes (currently at 20% off) that plus Ford Points got mine down below hard fold up price.
