Approaching my initial oil change on my new 25 Mav 2.0 EB and I'm wondering what filter beside the Motorcraft FL-2127 has anyone used or recommends? It's a little dicey crossing them. I know the threads are 22x1.5 vs 3/4x16 (on the previous 910-S). I'm perfectly fine with going the Motorcraft route, but if there are other readily available options, perhaps with better filtering capabilities, cheaper, please enlighten me! Looks as tho the Fram Ultra XG12060 (or their similar filters in that size) would fit? I see some people mention the FL-500S. Larger but same thread size?

Thanks guys, I look forward to positive feedback!

You can use something like a Purolator Boss (PBL11403) but if you wanted you can also use an FL-500S which seem to be more widely available. It’s the same filter just taller

I use a full size Baldwin B2... the same filter I use on my F350, Jeep and '65 Dodge.

Have heard that the FL-2127 thread is metric. Is the FL-500S metric thread also?
EDIT: Yes the thread is the same, 22x1.5. The FL-500S is taller.

Yes they’re both M22x1.50
What?

Why did they hide this from me.

That's it; this trucklet is going back; I'm not having commie metric threading near my oil!

I normal use Wix XP filters but there catalog does not even list Maverick in 25. It crosses but I’m sticking with the 2127 for now.

I came across this @bobistheoilguy.
Check the "note" at the bottom of the specifications.
FYI. There is nothing wrong with the Motorcraft oil filters.
I do my own oil changes and order the filters by the dozen from Rockauto.

Unfortunately that won't work on a 2025 w/metric threads. The direct cross-referenced Baldwin filter is B7422, and the larger model cross-referenced to FL-500S is Baldwin B7449. Both of these can be purchased on RockAuto for less than $5.

I would trust either of these over a current-day Motorcraft. Quality control on Motorcraft filters unfortunately has slipped since Mann-Hummel purchased Purolator, the manufacturer of Motorcraft filters.

I just changed mine, and used a NAPA Gold 100290. Once you have the lower shield off the filter and drain plug will be very easy to get to.

Actually these 910 filters are posted on bob is the oil guy. They are dated within one year of manufacture. It was quoted the build quality is very good. Both ran over five thousand miles.

Don't worry, your hybrid still takes the 910-S.

Many recent cut-aways show very poor quality control, with sloppy, excess glue application holding the element together coming loose on these and other Purolator-manufactured filters, including FL-910s filters I've personally cut apart from a case dated 9/25/24. I've used Motorcraft filters for many years, but lately I'm using other options for this reason. To each his own, but there are currently other options with better quality control from my experience.
