Obviously the hybrids aren't really in the hands of the general public, but maybe you all have heard about cold weather operations that I've missed.

When it's cold out does the IC engine start on first startup to allow for heat in the cabin? Does it only start if heat is turned on? Once it gets to temp will the engine stop and battery power resume since it has an electric water pump that can still circulate the coolant?

I have no idea how these general hybrid functions work

I was just thinking about that this morning. Interested if anyone has any knowledge on this.

Was also wondering if the car remembers settings with remote starting. Mostly that will be in the afternoons to get the AC on, but the heat on occasional chilly mornings would be nice too.

Actually the Ecoboost heat is what made me ask this. I read a post where someone asked how the heat was on the Ecoboost and everyone answered great

Coming from a Corolla Hybrid, I can tell you the ICE engine runs until temp in car is met and then it will cycle on and off to maintain temp in the car. The Toyota heated up very fast, faster than a normal non Hybrid.

Page 166 in the Maverick Owner's Manual:
HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS The gasoline engine starts and stops to provide power when required and to save fuel when not needed. When coasting at low speeds, coming to a stop or standing, the gas engine normally shuts down and your vehicle operates in electric-only mode. Conditions that may cause the gasoline engine to start or remain running include: • Considerable vehicle acceleration. • Driving uphill. • The high voltage battery charge level is low. • Heating or cooling the vehicle interior in high or low outside temperatures. • The gasoline engine is below normal operating temperature. • Towing a trailer. • Certain selectable drive modes could cause the engine to run. See Selecting a Drive Mode (page 226)

I live in Las Vegas, and my concern for my hybrid order is the heat!

In the summer, it often gets 110 plus during the day - Will this effect the battery or performance?

Yes it does remember the settings. This is one of the great features of the Fordpass remote start: cooling or warming the Maverick remotely.

In this video Tim mentions how it works:

I read on here that folks were having issues with the fordpass app causing warning popups in stop and go driving. Was planning on not using it for that reason.

I could be wrong, and it also may not effect the Sync 3 system, not sure. I was thinking of just using the pushbutton on the key fob as a workaround.

If I'm wrong about the radio popups I'll definitely use the app.
