Hello all, I have been researching a new vehicle since last November. Originally I was going to buy myself a Ford Bronco 2 Door and keep my Ford Fusion for a few years longer, then when it came time trade the Fusion for a Maverick but after running the figures on car payments, interest rates on loans and increasing insurance I decided that was too much to shell out. I am now considering consolidating down to one vehicle and I am thinking of making that a Ford Maverick Tremor.

I have a long commute, easily 150 miles round trip a day so something with reasonable fuel economy was important. I wanted something that can do some moderate off roading, no rock crawling. Something with a decent amount of room if I wanted to bring along 4-5 people while having plenty of room in the bed for storage and lastly something small enough that when I drive into the city I can park it easily on the street. I also want something with a little pep to it, surprisingly the 0-60 times on the Ford Maverick Tremor is faster than my Fusion with the same engine, which blows my mind.

So you may see me asking some questions but if the figures go in my favor, I may be picking up a Maverick before the Ford Employee Pricing ends. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to MTC. I hope you don't wait to long. I opted for the XLT, FX4, 4k Tow and P235 tires in 24. I needed cloth seats, and 4k tow also the better hwy mileage. In 24 hwy tremor was 24 vs 29 but the deal breaker was only 2000lb towing capacity on the tremor and loss of about 200lbs less payload and what I posted earlier less fuel economy.

Best of luck on your decision. I know I'm really enjoying this truck even after a year.

Well you can open bottles with the seatbelt buckle, and for some reason they hid the fish descaler in the spare tire well underneath, but I don't think there's a can opener.

Good to know... I thought the only bottle openers were on the tie downs on the tailgate!

Yeah I was reading if I wanted to order a Maverick Tremor I might be in for a wait, something about Ford not making many of them this year? Ideally I would like to get one in green but I can be flexible on color, the dealership I dealt with building my Bronco has one in black and I may touch base with him shortly for a test drive. As for towing, I don't have any plans for that in the immediate future so I think I can live with that.

I heard good things about the Tremor's AWD system and it has metal skid plates for 2025 I believe, so that means more to me personally.

That's a nice touch but I kind of find it funny how the Maverick is both feature packed and feature lacking. For example, I am kinda disappointed even on the highest trim level you cannot get the Auto Dimming Mirror/Homelink but it comes with adaptive cruise control, the 360 Camera, etc. Even my 15 year old Mustang has that feature but luckily I have seen many Maverick owners added that feature with little hassle.

I also wish the rain sensing wipers were on it and the ventilated seats like on my Fusion, or at least have the option to chose the pre-25 cloth seats as an option found on the Tremor trim. But again, I kinda accepted if I wanted something that covers all my needs/desires I will have to compromise on certain things.

I looked at a Tremor and went with the Lariat. The loss of fuel economy, slightly higher egress height, little rougher ride, were ALL reasons I was trading my 203 4 x 4 Silverado. Also the 4k towing gives me a transmission cooler, larger radiator, upgraded cooling fan, conventional spare, 4 pin and 7 pin connector in case I need to pull a Uhaul trailer. Those were my considerations. On the Tremor side I really like the accents. Auto dimming mirror? I hated it on the vehicles I had with it. If I want to dim the mirror I can flip the lever and if I don't it stays normal.
It all depends on your needs/desires, right now I am averaging 24 MPG with my Fusion, which has the same engine as the Maverick Tremor but with 2 less gears in its transmission. I ran into a thread here discussing the MPG on the Tremor and people seem to be getting between 22-30 MPG with a mix of driving, some got less but they were mostly city driving, I am mostly highway driving with some stop/go in the last 20 miles to my job so I suspect fuel economy on the Maverick Tremor will meet my needs.

As for towing, I have nothing to tow so the truck being able to tow 2000 pounds and having a no extra charge trailer hitch is a bonus for me.

As for the Auto Dimming mirror, I love the feature and expect it on all my vehicles as I work one week a month on nights and it's an indispensable feature to me. My Fusion even has auto dimming side view mirrors, so losing that feature going to a Maverick is kinda disappointing.

Honestly the "swiss army knife" aspect of the Maverick is what pushed us out of shopping for SUV hybrids or plug ins and into its corner, long term I think it (or any vehicle in this style/feature-set) will help us limit our total number of vehicles needed in the future. So far it seems like it's been a very good call!

Also shop around for a 2024. You may find something with features you can't get with a 2025. There seems to be a lot of them still around that dealers are looking to sell.

So does the FX4 package include the metal skid plate. You wanted a Swiss army knife, for me not having the option to pull over 2000lbs doesn't hit that mark or meaning. Don't get me wrong the Tremor is a nice truck for off roading but that's what it's specialty is, not a Swiss army knife. I know, your not towing now, but unfortunately you don't have a crystal ball. Do a search on this site and you will find many threads or posts of truck owners trading or discussing ways to add options to tow up to 4000lbs. Things have a way of changing in one's life span.

I hope you enjoy your Tremor if you buy one. It's a nice truck, a Swiss army knife it's not.

Maverick is a great vehicle, but when transitioning from a SUV or car need to know the bed is very difficult to seal out water. It's not a trunk. Even with the best cover, it needs additional sealing. If a perfectly dry cargo area is a priority, a Bronco Sport is a better choice
Many water posts for reference: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/search/4558331/?q=water+leaks+bed&o=date
I was pondering this the other day after locating all the water leak spots on my new cap, but then I couldn't figure out any situation in which I care that small quantities of water running into the bed area around the edges. My luggage and duffels doesn't care about that amount of water, nor my camping gear, nor any tools or equipment I'd carry back there, I'm not going to sleep in there, I couldn't come up with a real reason to seal it (yet) - interested in what sensitive cargoes people suggest needs a hermetically sealed cargo area for, as I was drawing a blank. Maybe if I was just tossing clothing or fabrics into the back without any sort of container...
