Panda: can the sync4 unit be updated or is it forever stuck on whatever version is on it when shipped?

I thought I read the sync4 is OTA only, and OTA checks vehicle VIN, and would fail on any 22-24 maverick since they don't come with sync4 but I'd like confirmation.

Would need to be more specific void which warranty. For the factory headunit yeah. But it shouldnt void powertrain, etc.

In the dealships eyes doing your own oil change could "void the warranty"

Wireless Carplay is pretty easy to accomplish for less than $50.

If you click on the image it gets bigger... My phone camera had no issue picking up the codes on a 15" laptop screen.

I bought the extended warranty that includes oil changes so I’m not worried about that.

yes, personally I would not bother with the 8" option IF you have a 22-24 that came with B&O and Sync3. to me the only value in that kind of upgrade is if you also get the 12" screen upgrade.

...but the 22-24 non B&O with the HORRIFIC Ford Connected Audio infotainment (sometimes called 'sync 2.5' by enthusiasts but this is not the actual name) is an entirely different matter. I would want that piece of junk out of there whether using 8" display or upgrading to 12".

Interested, have a 24 Lariat. Biggest question what does that do to OTA updates, software fixes, and dealer recalls where they plug into your truck to make a change? How does that affect the Sync 4 change when the dealer thinks it's a Sync 3?

Will the installation of this unit eliminate the functionality of the mechanical buttons in 2024 Mavericks? Temperature controls, fan speed, etc.? I understand that in Sync4 many of those controls have been transferred to the touchscreen.
