I talked them into programming mine but not mounting it, they seemed reluctant to do it bit I am not sure where I am going to mount it yet. In another thread a member mounted it on top of the bed rail behind the rear window, looks like a good spot.

This seems like a good spot. Out of the way and not easily seen.

I still can’t believe Ford took off this feature, and it’s such a signature Ford thing. Every ford I’ve had since our 2004 f150 has had the keypad
I couldn’t live without it, as I lock my stuff with my key in the car all the time. I don’t think you can do that with a lariat fob just the key for the XLT Lux. My Hyundai Kona wouldn’t let me lock the car with the fob inside.

It works with the 22-23 lariat key fob.
Leave the key inside the truck
Press the eight and nine buttons on the keypad and it will lock.

Minimum of 5 digits requires for the code to be set.

Yes with lariat with 0 or other fob(s) push lock button twice either with truck ready or off while outside with one fob.

My keypad on my 1995 Ford Taurus died after five years. For the next 25 years, I used the key fob.

Why does anyone need a keypad if you have a cell phone?

I bought the wireless keypad for my 2024 Lariat thinking it was going to be a simple install. To have the keypad programmed at the local dealer they wanted to charge minimum of one hour shop charge ($200.00). It’s not worth the money to have it installed, now I’m stuck with a useless keypad.
You have keyless entry on the Lariat.

You can use the same instructions for programming the truck for a new fob to be used.
Except instead of laying the fob into the reader spot, you place the keypad.

There's a thread around here somewhere with the normal instructions, and another where someone followed them with the keypad.

OBVIOUSLY, the demand wasn't/isn't there. Also, I have been told they are easily read by RF readers.
Should be as readable as walking up to the truck with a keyless entry fob that is constantly sending out the transponder code so the truck can react.

Except the keypad requires an entry before it sends anything.

We use our keypads so much. Still don't know why Ford got rid of them.
Discontinuing the wired keypad was strictly cost cutting.
The wired keypad required a separately manufactured driver's door frame, with a recessed/punched out mounting area for the keypad and of course the harness.

I think you have a devoted group of fans who really like the keypad, I've had the keypad on several Fords in the past and I can count how many times I've ever used it, 0. I have a feeling most people were like me so I think Ford saw this as a low hanging fruit for saving some $$. If people still wanted it you could get the wireless one. As someone said you always can use FordPass.

Unless you don't have cell service, are on a hike, at the beach, off roading ATV and want to lock your wallet, keys, cell phone, in the truck. 🤷‍♂️
That just leaves a hidden key or the uglyass wireless keypad.

Since 1990 I've had the wired keypads on all my Fords except one Ranger. I wore the one out on my 350.

FordPass is by Bluetooth, cell service is not needed.
(Edit: Cell service is needed! 7-26-2025)

I would go with the hidden key in case the 12v battery is dead.

Are you sure?
Bluetooth doesn't work 100's or 1000's of miles away!!
According to the below information it relies on a cell network AT&T to be specific.
