Quite often when rolling to a stop I feel a distinct "clunk" as I near a complete stop. It feels like a regular automatic transmission dropping into first gear. But with the cvt, there are no gear changes, so it should just be a smooth, continuous transition. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm beginning to wonder if it indicates a tranny problem.

I'm just going to make a guess, but what you are likely feeling is not the transmission, but the switch from regenerative braking to traditional braking with the pads and rotors that happens right at the end of the braking phase. This will be more noticeable if you brake harder.

If it is the phase of braking you can learn to avoid this clunky feeling with some practice.

Have you noticed on your Power meter if you had been staying in Regen green during the entire braking process?

Then indeed as mentioned in prior post.

Another possibility if this only happens after a long coasting & braking chunk of time, perhaps especially after the ICE had been running due to power demands or highway speeds.

If the HVB was topped off (70% SOC) and still coasting/braking - then your engine was being spun up purely to waste electrical power with engine braking.
And along with above comment, the generator motor RPM providing the gearing for the engine RPM would be able to disengage the engine and that can cause a similar effect as it instantly changes RPM to stop that effect.

This. It is probably the switch between Regen braking and friction braking with the conventional pads/rotors. And it may vary, depending on how hard you brake.

Enabling the Brake Coach will tell you how much of each complete stop was done with regen and/or friction brakes. 100% is a complete stop using regen-only.

My take:

It's the "grabby brakes" at 3 MPH that has been discussed since 2022.

You do get used to it. You can reduce it with practice on the pedal, And there is a software patch (from a dealer) that can lessen the abruptness of the change.
