For the youngin's out there...

The way you can get your hybrid battery fully charged is do this:

Put it in Tow/Haul mode, then creep around a parking lot or residential zone at 15-25 mph. Basically just let it idle without using the gas pedal. 3 to 4 minutes should do it. Then come to a stop. Let engine shut off with your foot on the brake. Switch to normal or eco or Slippery mode. Slippery is slightly to your advantage for the next part.

Note Odometer reading in tenths, or reset a trip meter. Now drive in EV mode at about 25 mph. I'd like to see how far you go without an engine restart.

I've gone 3.3 miles. My best EV on level ground at 25 mph. I had to stop and restart I think twice but see if you can go 3 miles or more in one stint at 25 mph with a 2025.

Yea I wonder if the new HF55 has anything to do with it. Yes, if the radio is on it does drown it out, or windows down.

I think a distant siren is the best way to describe it.
Exactly, this ⬆

To the OP, what trim level was your 2024, if a higher trim than what you currently have, maybe the new Mav has less sound-deadening, but I'm just speculating.

Both XL.... so sound deadening should be the same... zero lol

Can you 25's with a nice stretch of flat road attempt an EV only acceleration past 20 so no EV alert noise? I guess make sure the battery is loaded to support that.

With EV only, and faster speeds - the generator motor is spinning to offset the traction motor, so the engine doesn't spin.
I guess not exactly a hard load, like spinning for the gearing while ICE is running.
And not as fast as it could go either, but at least quiet.

Might tell you if it's one of the motors at least.
Im not sure it has to do with speed but its exactly when the ICE kicks in...

My '23 makes a slight whine (MG2) when ICE is running and truck is stopped. Of course, as I accelerate, the frequency of the whine slows per the planetary transmission. It's not very loud.

The speed above 20 is purely to get the low speed EV warning sound to be off - and only the motors working.
So no confusion of purposeful sound to narrowing down whatever it might be - if that curious.

And the fact other posters said above that speed, but engine running adds noise too.

So right when ICE kicks in if moving, the generator motor is changing RPM from reverse matching the traction motor RPM to whatever is needed to spin up the ICE.
That depends on fast you are going at that moment and torque needed for what that RPM and direction will be.
And then the GM spins whatever direction and RPM is needed for the gearing at the speed you are at.
Faster speeds little torque needed may be reverse spin, more torque positive matching traction motor.
Low speeds matching.

So that generator motor is spinning all over the place and reversing direction depending on the needs.
Hence my thought about for sure hearing it in EV mode getting up to decent speed if possible.

Otherwise, only with coming ICE on adds engine noise too now.
Perhaps some morning before warmup - get hood open, start truck, press Go pedal down enough to start ICE manually, get out and listen for location of whine.

MG2 is a Toyota term for the larger motor that puts torque to the wheels. Ford calls this the Traction Motor. So it's not moving if the wheels aren't moving.

MG1 is a Toyota term for the smaller generator that also is the engine starter. It has to spin if the engine is turning but the wheels aren't.

If under load to recharge the HV battery, it can make a whine. If the battery is charged, no whine. So it can appear to be random.
