Today I ended my year-and-half long relationship with Old Blue, a 2023 Maverick XLT hybrid. My old friend stayed faithful and trustworthy for 49,000 miles without ever a complaint or reproach, delivering a 40.2 mpg average and still on its stock tires! Being older I did coddle it, seldom going faster than 55 in a 2/3's 1/3rd mix of rural and city driving. Despite how good it was to me I was too cheap to feed it premium, going with 87 top tier gas instead. But it still steadfastly bore me through rain, snow, and mud without any difficulty. Yet I found myself drawn to another, 2025 Space White Lariat hybrid, and said goodbye. Only time will tell the extent of my foolishness, but I want everyone to know what a great truck the 2023 was and, I hope, will be for another in a better position to appreciate it.

Hugs and prayers to you over this difficult period.
All kidding aside, the Lariat has some nice amenities over the XLT and us older guys have earned them.

I only drove an xlt briefly on a test drive and had to go with the Lariat because I love the added BnO sound system. I also really dug the nicer ride on my tremor but that is not specific to Lariat. I did later find that the heated seats and steering do come in handy and the acoustic windshield really help to keep most of the worlds noises out.

Toptier is the treat for the hybrid. Unlike the ecoboost, it has no use for the extra octane. The extra detergents in toptier, however, are a real benefit. (and some brands exceed the standards by a substantial amount)

Do Tell.
I know little about Top Tier.
I got Shell,
BP, and they are the only ones with Ethanol free, what I like to call Real Gas.
And Marathon.

Then The Obligatory Convenience stores that Buy what eva ~

As someone who had a 2023 XLT and now have a 2025 Lariat - I think you've made the right choice!

I know how you feel my 22 ecoboost maverick has been a reliable , faithful ,zero problem and great fun to drive friend for the last two and a half years. I purchased a new 24 2.3L Ranger and keep my maverick but for now am daily driving the Ranger.
