Start with the truck off and door closed. Hold down “OK” on the steering wheel for ~10 seconds while you turn key to “RUN” without actually starting the truck. Let off of the OK button when you see “ET” in green on the dash. This stands for “Engineering Test” mode.

You can scroll through options until you see something like “AFE Bias”. This is the value that we are changing.

If you have a Lariat it is similar - you just press the start button without your foot on the brake.

Hopefully I am explaining this in a way that makes sense…
I can get to the engineering mode, but no farther. How do you scroll. I never see the AFE bias adjustment screen. The ET screen just stays there and when I push up or down arrows nothing happens.

You tapping the Menu button?

This is just like Settings mode where it shows pic of truck. Nothing to actually see there, until you hit the Menu button then you can scroll, hit Ok, scroll more, ect.

Today, I was finally able to adjust the AFE. I now have it set on 940 and will try that. It has consistently been reading from 6.7 to 10 percent too high. The computer has been reading from 30.2 to 33 miles per gallon. Today's calculation at the pump was 28.64 over the last 562 miles. I'm not sure why Ford sets this at 1,000.

After I reset the AFE bias, my dash no longer shows miles per gallon. How do I get this back? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The scroll is toggle the ok button up or down not the buttons with the triangles.

Good info.

I manually calculated my mpg for about the first 15 fill ups and compared it to the mpg display number.
My computer estimate was within 1-2 mpg, sometimes higher, sometimes lower, to my manual figures. Often is was almost dead on.

The mpg display was so close most of the time I quit ciphering manually.

I have had a couple cars that had pretty accurate readings. It surprises me when I read how many people don’t seem to have particularly dependable dash readout figures.
This is what I wanted to know how close is what reads on the MPG indicator to what id get hand calculating.. Since I just wanted to see how close it was in general high or low to hand calculated seems its almost spot on to at worst 1-2 MPG off.. so if my Truck says 34.5 MPG im probably getting 32-34 MPG, close enough for me. I was wondering as it seems im actually getting BETTER MPG in my Maverick than I did with the Subaru Forester,, which I was impressed with. Im mostly guessing the differnt types and inner workings of the AWD Subaru vs Ford is what does that..

I am only on third tank but its been pretty close to right for me. Maybe its because I have a big kayak on the roof its more accurate?

Re. Those straps under the hood. Did you just put them on that existing fender screw? I have some ready to install but I was wondering about the strength. No issues? I have a hitch mounted
'T' bar setup so I can leave the bed cover on.

Yes just used a bolt under the hood but added a large washer to it.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was going to do with a fender washer. That anodized 80/20 looks nice.
