Hey Everyone

I had a job1 lariat that i just swapped out for a job2 last thursday, the job2 has a weird issue where the initial chimes the truck makes and the menu beeps sound off when compared to the job1. They sound really high pitched and low quality. Regular music sounds fine but when streaming Spotify via android auto and using google maps to navigate when it switches to over to the navigation prompt voice it sounds horrible and breaks up the quality is so bad.

I had an appt with the service department today and today of all days it doesn't do it, chimes/beeps/navigation prompts all sound normal. They checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong of course, half way home it started doing it again.

so here I am, has anyone else experienced this? It almost feels like there is a speaker just for those items that is blown or something as regular music via radio/sirius/spotify/etc all sound fine.

Not familiar with nav directions doing this, but the chime will play though a tiny internal speaker in the truck, when the 12v battery is low, and, IIRC, for other reasons. It does sound like shit. I heard it on a friend's ecoboost maverick. It stopped doing it when he replaced the battery.

Put your 12v battery on a battery maintainer overnight and see if that fixes the problem. It may - it may not. But worth a try.

You can adjust the nav. volume by adjusting it when the directions are playing.

Yea nav volume is not the problem unfortanetly. I made sure it was turned up loud enough to hear it but it breaks up and crackles and sounds awful except today it sounded perfectly fine. I will try and get some video of it next time I am able to.

I just came here looking for this issue.

Brand new 25 Lariat Hybrid AWD. Picked it up 3/30.

Started it this morning from the fob, let it warm up for about 10 before my 5-yr old an I got in to go to school. When I full started it, instead of the normal start chimes/dings, I heard something else entirely. Even my son looked confused. I thought maybe it was a new ding alerting me to freezing temps, because we're having a late cold snap in the DC area and last night was easily the coldest since I brought the truck home. In fact, it's the coldest since the truck even arrived in the area from the factory.

Didn't think much of it, then we got to school and when I switched off, it made more weird sounds. I realized it was the normal chimes, only tinnier and coming only from the left side of the dash.

Dropped him off, came back out, started it back up and everything was normal again.

Could it really be a low batt after a cold night? That doesn't bode well, because it wasn't THAT cold. Just cold for this time of year.

I would put it on a maintenance charger overnight and see if it makes a difference. I you just got your truck and it sat for a long time in transit or at a dealer lot, it might be a good idea to top off the battery charge anyway. These trucks are not good at keeping the 12v battery fully charged.

I wish I could, but we're in a temp apartment while our house is being renovated. No place to plug in, unfortunately. I've been driving it daily since I took delivery. Already 280 miles on it. Is it possible that the battery hasn't already fully discharged and recharged multiple times? Thanks.

EDIT: Sorry, I was thinking of the hybrid battery. I'm guessing this would be the standard battery, which wouldn't be fully discharging, but perhaps at least fully charging through all this driving?

You can use a solar trickle charger if you've got no place to plug in.

Had a similar thing happen yesterday with my 25 Lariat hybrid. I turned it on to accessory and the chime was monotone "tinny" sounding. Not the normal chime. So I turned it off and tried again and it was the normal sound. Can't get it to do it again.

You traded a Job 1 for a Job 2? Just for the Pro Trailering features?? How much did that set you back?

As many on MTC have posted regarding the 12v battery, the truck may have never fully charged it. You do not want it to become fully discharged, as that is not good for the battery's health.

The HV battery charge is usually kept ideally between ~30 to ~70% StateOfCharge. Never totally discharged in normal use This insures that it will last for probably at least a decade or more.

I do not recommend lol, the ford employee pricing probably actually hurt me more, while i got a deal on the job2, i wasnt able to get as much for the job1. I lost a bit but payments are basically the same.

Update incase someone finds this and has the same issue, I had the dealership take the truck for a week and they were able to diagnose the issue and replaced the center speaker, once that was replaced its been solid for them for a few days and I just got it back today and its been fine as well.
