Does anyone know of a method to reduce the nighttime head light glare form vehicles following?
Is it as simple as applying some window tint film?

In my case I had cataract surgery helping the most and a little more had anti glare coating on my glasses. Some can use the yellow anti glare glasses for excellent vision. The approaching headlights were much more concern to me.

I added KDX anti-glare tint to the side mirrors and a Gentex auto-dimming rear view mirror. Now I no longer have to duck and dodge the glare in my mirrors when driving at night. The tint is good, not as good as an auto-dimming mirror but definitely better than nothing. The link below is to pre-cut custom film or you could buy a roll from KDX and cut it yourself. I went with the pre-cut and did the install myself never having applied tint before.

So does the film reduce the ability to see things at night, like tinted windows do?

Not in my experience. I haven’t had any visibility issues, day or night. I would say the auto-dimming rear view mirror cuts down night visibility much more when dimmed but it also cuts glare better. I haven’t tinted my front windows yet, for what that’s worth. I am 100% happy with the tint, no downsides.

When trying to order this, the web page asks for "Shape 1" or "Shape 2" but does not describe the difference.

Shape 1 is without spotter mirror, shape 2 is with the spotter. There is no clear indication of this other than when scrolling left on the pictures the silhouette of the non-spotter is first and the spotter is second.
I am not affiliated with this seller in any way. I believe it is someone’s garage business. Shipping times can vary. I bought two sets, the first set took 2 weeks or so to show up, the second set only took a couple days. The kit comes with a tint solution ( dish soap, I believe) and a small squeegee.

I adjust mine out a little out of normal view and just lean a little or tilt my head, over, left or right, so I can see out of either. No lights at all in my eyes normally.

I just had windows tinted, I will let you know , for I noticed the same thing with the nighttime glare in the mirrors. ( ALL LEGAL TINT, NOT DARK)

To be continued, driving tonight, I will let you know tomorrow.

Drove last night and tint does make a difference on mirror glare.

You're supposed to set your mirrors so that you cannot see the side of the vehicle at all. You move your head over to see straight back, so there is essentially no bright light problem if they are set up correctly. Setting them up that way removes blind spots, and is therefore recommended by any driving school.
