Catalytic converter, we don't need no stinking catalytic converter! But I guess they needed a side view mirror??
Anyway, we parked on a busy street in Long Beach while stopping for lunch. Upon returning to our Mav I noticed the drivers side view mirror was missing, not the entire assembly, just the mirror. Looked on the ground and checked for damage as I thought a passing vehicle had struck it. Nothing, no dents, nicks or scratches.
Took it to our dealer and the service representative said someone stole it as the mirror is easily removed with a flat bladed instrument.
5 Days and 26426 Ford pass points ($132.13) later the replacement mirror arrived. Went back and the service rep popped the new one in. No trip to a service bay required as it's held in place by a single spring clip.
There are two cables (two wires each) plugged into the back of the mirror, one with spade plugs and the other with a small connector. When the mirror was stolen the connector wires pulled from the housing leaving the two pins attached to the wires with the housing probably left in the missing mirror itself. These wires are for the yellow blind spot warning indicator. The dealer said the vehicle is too new to order a replacement and check back in a month or so. The spade plugs (and wires) were not damaged and plugged into the new mirror, the other pair of connector wires were left unattached.
Does anyone know how to determine the connector part number, then order one? I'm thinking the dealer may have to order the entire harness. If I could just order the connector housing the pins could probably be inserted into the new housing.
..................... On a positive note the fault detection software works as I now have two error messages displayed on the dash after starting the vehicle – 'Cross Traffic' and 'Blind Spot' faults. Two clicks of the steering wheel mounted 'ok' button clears the messages until the next start. Also received a FordPass app message 'BLIND SPOT DETECTION WITH CROSS TRAFFIC'.
