Well, I picked up my new 2025 Evolution Green Hybrid Feb 3rd only to find out that it was missing the Pro Trailer Assist meaning that it was a Job 1 build.
Back when Tim "FordVideoGuy" first posted that that Build 1 was not going to have the Trailer Pro Assist, I contacted my dealer sales rep to ensure that my order was moved onto the Job 2 build list. I was assured that my order was fine and that there would be no problem and that I would have the Trailer Pro Assist.
I was notifed from Ford that my order was delivered to the dealership Feb 1st. Since it was delivered to the overflow lot, the sales rep could not find the key set so I never got to see the truck that day, but i was walked over to finance to finalize purchase of the truck. Still, site unseen and no test drive. Also told truck had not completed inspection and would not be ready for a few days since the delivery was on weekend. I was notified Tuesday it was ready so that is the day that i picked it up. I did confirm that it had the 4K Tow package but it was not until I had the truck in the driveway that I found a radio volume control where the Pro Trailer Assist control should be. I immediately drove back to the dealership only to find that the Sales Manager reminded me that I signed a paper during the purchase process that stated "Once I drove the vehicle of the dealership property, that I owned it and that the dealership was no longer responceble for the condition of the vehicle after I drove off of the dealership property". THAT WAS A HARD SLAP IN THE FACE TO ME. I have bought several vehicles from this dealership over the years and that was not an acceptable answer.
Keeping this short - The sales manager made some phone calls and after an hour+half, I all of a sudden received the royal treatment and told that they were reversing the contract and treating the incident like the purchase never happened. I was quite pampered from that moment on and everything was reversed within the next 20 minutes and a new order was placed immediately.
The next day, I found out from my lawyer that their firm already have clients dealing with this exact senaio and that the Sales Manager was most likely directed to Legal where it was advised to do what ever it would take to turn it around and make me happy. Here is what the Job 1 - 2 problem would have played out in court:
1 - Did Ford provide memo to dealership about orders built under Job 1 would not have the Pro Trailer Assist? - Confirmed
2 - Did Ford privide a notice affixed to the vihicle stating that it is was not built to order? - Not confirmed, but suspected there was
3 - Did dealership Finance inform buyer that vehicle was not built to order? - No
4 - Did dealership Finance reimburse cost of deleted option to the buyer - No
5 - Did this issue cause emotional stress to the buyer? - I would say Yes
6 - Did Buyer find out about the difference between Job 1 and Job 2 builds and was that notified to the dealership sales for confirmation and/or adjustment? - Yes. Reply was that there was no issue that I would be receiving the correct ordered package.
7 - Was this issue discussed with Sales Rep after delivery? - Yes, and led to belive that it was a non-issue.
7- There were a few other things but the above stuck out to me the most.
Lawer stated that likely outcome would be that the dealership would have been liable for (Some type of Legal term that I cannot recall but basically a Deceptive Sales Practice) where they could possibly be held fully responsible and would have to provide me the buyer with an New Correctly Built vehicle at NO charge.

What an experience that I hope I never have to repeat.

It's definitely annoying to be in that situation, but I'd absolutely say that's on you.

You mentioned that you watched the videos and understood that Job 1 and Job 2 would include different features. You should have inspected the vehicle to include the window sticker prior to signing anything if that feature was a deal killer and potentially not on the truck. That's true for any vehicle purchase ever.

Job 2 production wasn't even scheduled to start until Feb 03 so that should have immediately told you that your vehicle wasn't going to have those features.

I thought it was known that Job 2 wasn't starting until February? If you had a build date before February you already knew it wasn't a Job 2 no matter what the dealership tried to tell you.

My dealership allows me to drive a vehicle home overnight before signing any papers. I realize that's probably not normal, but I can't imagine signing anything sight-unseen.

Yes, I did know that and I did contact the dealership and I was assured that the my order was not affected. Also told that some of the Job 2 builds could start on the January 6th build date. I was on top of this so no, I do not accept that this was on me. I never got to see or test drive the truck before the purchase process and a short conversation with the sales rep that same day we spoke about the Pro Assist debocal and I was assured again that it was all good. I did not see the truck for another two days when I picked it up. It was also on the dealer to tell me that it was not to build and to reimburse the cost of the package. The dealer was notified and they confirmed that they had the notifications. Dealer never informed me that it was received different from the order and they did not provide the Ford directed reimbursement. And then to find out that this has happened to others. So all on me, No.

You were very worried about 1 feature in particular, enough to call the dealership in advance to ensure you had a job 2 order….

but you didn’t care to check for the ONLY feature different from job 1 to job 2?

Yes. That is in fact, very much on you.

Why in the world would you sign ANYTHING without seeing and driving the truck? That makes zero sense.

You also knew you couldn't get a Job 2 truck, no matter what the dealer said.

What ever. I concede. It is not worth your argument.
Hopefully, my post may help others to not go through a similar experience.

Yes, be sure to test drive your vehicles prior to purchase and definitely inspect them for features that are important to you and you are not sure have been included in your build.

Sounds like a scummy dealership. They knew full well you wouldn't get what you want, hoping you'll make another order and trade in the one they sold you already.

Still, never buy a vehicle you've never seen or test driven. That's just poor judgment on your part.

It's obvious the dealer was trying to prevent him from seeing/inspecting the vehicle prior to delivery/signing paperwork. Dealers thrive on being vague; everything is fluid, but will work out in the end for you. Unfortunately, the OP signed, choosing to believe the dealer was telling the truth, instead of his gut, and did not perform due dilience. He was weak and got bullied. Fortunately, in the end, it all worked out.

Highlights what a perilous thing a vehicle purchase is if you don't stay on top of everything. Just fraught with opportunities for things to go wrong or for you to be taken advantage of. I abhor controversy...I'm wired that way.... so an automotive purchase for me is exhausting becuase I sense that at every turn the dealerships vagueness, shallow re-assurances, etc... are just setups to take advantage of me later... Having to stick up for myself is just mentally and emotionally taxing (again, I'm wired to avoid conflict), but I do it. At every turn. So, I've become one of those annoying overcommunicators that wants them to say/write/repeat everything back to me that we've agreed upon. Again, it's exhausting.. and it does indicate to the dealer that in my heart of hearts, I don't trust them at all. I wish the process wasnt so tense, but I find people behave very oddly when money is involved.

I was told three weeks ago by my dealership that becuase I modified my truck (changed out the 18" factory Maverick BAP wheels for 18" factory Bronco Sport wheels), that I could have trouble with warranty work. I'm not making that up. Guess what that exchange really told me? That any warranty claims will be met with skepticism and 'Job 1' for them will be to wash their hands of any responsibility and send me on my way. My sense is they won't be an advocate, and that future warranty discussions will be adversarial at best. May need to find another dealership, we'll see.

Can just make you hate everybody, no?

I am not absolving the dealership of unscrupulous or under handed tactics but I'm also big on personal responsibility. I have 3 kids under the age of 10, usually when one of them gets in trouble or have to explain themselves they start off with "Well Joe did this and it caused me..."

We make them stop and start over with "I did this because..."

I most definitely would find another dealership to work with. One of the advantages of going with Ford - there are dealerships all over the place.
